I’ve been coming to Studio 21 for over 20 years and I have never had a less than stellar experience. They are always professional while maintaining a very welcoming and friendly environment. If there was an option to give them 10 stars, I would!
After living in Atlanta for 10 years, I was still driving back and forth to see my hairstylist there—even after living in Birmingham for over two years. The drive finally became too hard to manage, so I knew it was time to find someone locally, which honestly made me very nervous. The owner of a salon in Atlanta recommended Salon 21, and that’s how I found Britney—and I’m so glad I did! She was able to squeeze me into her schedule within a week, and from the moment I sat in her chair, she made me feel completely comfortable and right at home! Britney truly listens and genuinely cares about what YOU want for your own hair, which meant so much to me after being with the same stylist for so long. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to make sure you feel confident every step of the way. She did an amazing job on my hair, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I already have my next appointment booked and am so excited to have finally found my new stylist in Birmingham. Highly recommend Britney and Salon 21!
I am not the type to leave bad reviews but this place was horrible. It is a very clean and new place and everyone is nice, but that is not the only thing I am paying for. I called the salon AHEAD OF TIME to explain to them everything that I had done to my hair in the past so they could have a clear picture of what products were on my hair. I was a dark brown hair and wanted a dark burgundy. I had NO experience with hair coloring, which is why I made sure to go the extra step of letting them know extra information BEFORE I went to the appointment. They told me everything was fine and I went to my appointment, where my stylist told me that she would not need to lift my hair for it to turn out purple. By the time I was done, my hair was BLACK. I left at night, so I waited until the next day to see my hair in the sun to see if there was anything. My hair was BLACK. I immediately called the studio and explained and it took them like 6 hours to even call back to receive a very passive aggressive "manager" that basically told me there was nothing to do be done and it was my fault.... Im sorry but you guys are the professionals and you should have told me there was a chance IT WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL. The so called manager had no sympathy and offered her number for me to send pictures. I sent her pictures of my clearly very black hair and she gaslit me and said she could see the purple and it wasn't their fault that it didn't work like they said. I understand hair is not perfectly predictable, but the stylist said it could be done and even asked for another opinion because she wasn't even certain. It was NOT done, and the manager's answer was I could come back and get it done for full price and I would have to get it lifted. It seems you guys knew that it couldn't be done the way I wanted and didn't care or there is a lack of skill or professionalism somewhere in letting a customer know what is possible and what is not. You guys had a manager and TWO stylists look at my hair and apparently still could not figure out that my hair would definitely need be lifted. Instead you guys told me it would be "dark purple" and gave me black hair... I paid $200 for something I could have done at home and when I brought up my real concerns they told me to come back again for full price to receive what I actually wanted the first time! Mind you, I was extremely nice to everyone throughout this whole process and the manager treated me like dirt and told me haha too bad. My stylist was a very sweet girl though, but man does she work with some terrible people that gave her terrible advice. Do not come here for professional hair care or any kind of advice if you want to be treated with dignity and respect. Go somewhere else Below are my pictures of my hair vs inspiration photos.
I have been coming here for the last 4 years and getting my hair done with Kelly. She is HANDS DOWN the best hair dresser I have ever been to. I have never left the salon disappointed and my hair is the longest and healthiest it has ever been!
What an awesome place!! The girl at the front (I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name 🤭) was so sweet and helpful! My stylist, Brit, was a total rockstar! She listened to everything I wanted, even though I had a tough time describing it, and she helped me come up with a perfect plan for my hair! She did a great job and I can’t wait to come back!
