"I didn’t realize I was ordering the 'Limited Edition: Anemic Edition' of the Nagasaki Wagyu. Take a look at the menu photo: a beautiful, marble red piece of art. Now look at what arrived on my plate: two pieces of beef that look like they’ve seen a ghost or perhaps they’re just pale from the shock of being priced at $22.90. If 'Wagyu' now means 'vaguely meat-colored,' then they nailed it. In reality, I’ve had $4 grocery store sushi with more life in it than this. The service is 'mid' at best. I asked the staff what was inside the rolls, and I’m pretty sure they were as curious as I was, because nobody actually knew or bothered to find out. There is zero care or concern here; it feels like they’re just going through the motions. Also, don’t be fooled by a sudden influx of high ratings, they’re out here bribing people with free drinks in exchange for 5 star Google reviews. I’d rather pay for my own drink and keep my integrity (and this pale sushi) out of it. The only reason this isn’t a 1 star review is that the standard, basic sushi was actually okay. But for a place calling itself Tetsujin, it’s a bit of a shame to the craft. If you’re coming for the 'special' wagyu, save your $20 and buy a lottery ticket instead, you’ll have better luck there."
Good mix of more traditional style i.e sushi with minimal sauce/toppings, and sushi with alot of mayo based and thicker sauces. For me less us better so all have option to order without mayo etc. Limited sushi but made up for with Wagyu options , like bbq or stone beef bibimba (yum). Good style, vibe and clean restaurant
Great BBQ spot in the city. The Angus beef set was juicy and full of flavour, and the Wagyu was super tender. Everything was grilled perfectly. Would definitely come back again!
love how you can enjoy the best of both worlds here - sushi and Japanese bbq! meat quality is pretty good here and we ordered the Angus set for $85. Generous servings and enough for two people to share. Would recommend!
You have to use the lift on the alley to find the restaurant. It looks empty but it is open during my lunchtime visit. They have izakaya dan bbq. Lunch set very good price can add on sashimi. The sashimi very different because they put sesame and caviar taste. Pork tonkatsu very tender and the sauce still hot, it mixed very well. On the BBQ they have affordable wagyu and so far the best thin ox tounge in Melbourne. Last for dessert, goma (black sesame) ice cream, the portion very generous and perfect to close my lunch.
