Complete joke of a "repair" shop. I'm posting my anecdotal experience with this shop, but if you don't wanna read that just know this... IF YOU VALUE YOUR ELECTRONICS GO ANYWHERE ELSE DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN YOUR BUSINESS. I dropped my desktop computer TWO MONTHS ago for an issue with the bios settings. I tried to enable secure boot, and it caused the display to not show up due to my build not having a integrated TPM (oops on my part). My cpu doesn't have integrated graphics cause it's a cpu meant for a server, so I couldn't get a display to come up connecting to the motherboard directly. A simple fix, just stick a cpu that has integrated graphics that fits the motherboard socket for my rig, get the display to come up, and turn off the setting in the bios. I didn't want to go through the hassle of ordering a cpu, installing it for 5 minutes to turn off a setting, and having to return it. I figured I'd just take it to a shop that has CPUs sitting around, they can throw one in, and get it fixed in a week tops. Boy was I wrong with that taking it to Lance. First the shop is an absolute dump when you walk in, should've known then, but I figured I'd give him a chance because he is a good talker and the reviews online were really positive. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS FACADE. Lance may appear sweet but that has nothing to do with fixing electronics and he clearly has no idea what he's doing or how to run a business at all. An entire month had passed heard NOTHING from Lance, I tried calling the shop but don't bother he never answers the phone and his voice mail is always full (shocker since he never answers the phone). So I had to take time off work to go down there during business hours to get an update. My computer had been in the same exact spot where I dropped it off a month ago with noticably more dust on it... Lance tried to give me some BS about how busy he was (but everytime you walk in he's sitting around doing nothing) and he'll put it on priority, like I said he's a good talker and I fell for his crap... HUGE MISTAKE and hindsight is 20/20 but I wish I had just taken my computer back then and there. Another MONTH passes, again with no update and voicemail inbox is still full. So I go in for a second time to just take my computer back working or not. When I go to pick it up he tells me he never even logged my info/issue with my computer in his system, and I see my computer taken apart on his floor. He then tells me that my computer is now crashing and that he had to set it aside because it became "too much brain power" LOL. Are you or are you not running a business Lance?. How do you even know what you're supposed to be troubleshooting if you never even logged the issue in your system? Just taking stuff out and plugging it back in to see if something happens because he is completely incompetent, and ended up damaging my components that I now need to replace. My $4000 graphics card is no longer working anymore thanks to Lance, and it was working before I brought it in. So now after waiting two months I have my computer back in a worse state, with the same original issue, but now he possibly bricked my entire rig (that was $8,000 to build 3 years ago by the way). I will consider taking this to claims court Lance, and this sham of a business you're barely able to run needs to be shut down. You are unorganized, incompetent, and no one in the Austin area should trust you with their property if they value it at all. He tried to give me BS about how a computer works and make it sound all technical. Unlucky for him, I work as an electrical engineer SPECIFICALLY with CPU design/verification so I could see right through the crap he was trying to feed me. It made me think about how many other people he's pulled this on, and how many have sadly fallen for it. This was an easy job any competent shop could've gotten done in a week that I made the mistake of trying to offload to someone like Lance, and he completely blew it worse than I thought was even possible. PEOPLE I REPEAT, DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP AND AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Lance is awesome! I visited his shop today after sitting in Best Buy for a bit without an appointment. I love supporting fellow local business owners! My laptop was hacked and I wanted to have it checked for malware or other issues. Lance suggested I try an online service that is free, instead of insisting on charging me to do the work himself. Integrity is rare these days. Thank you, Lance!
So grateful to the owner! Spilled stuff on my laptop and the charger wouldn't work....this happened the week before my finals for nursing school, he had it fixed in less than 24hrs, gave me a new charger and charged a fair price! Much appreciated, saved my butt big time! Thank you to this funny, smart and helpful man. If I ever have any issues again with my tech, going straight there, 1000%. 💯👍
Great experience with the owner. This business is an Austin institution when it comes to computer repair. I had stripped some screws when installing on new battery on an HP ZBook and the owner installed the battery screws with a simple Philips screw driver at no install cost. I will be coming here for all my personal PC repair!
Took my laptop there because the screen needed to be replaced. Got it done quickly and well. Several months later, my laptop got wet so I took it back. Lance promised me that he'd get to it immediately, top of the priority stack. A week went by and I still hadn't heard anything from him. He hadn't gotten to it yet. Another week later, I called him back and he said some parts were fried, and there's a place in California that might be able to salvage the data. Ok, so send it there. That was in August or September. It's now May. I've managed to speak to him a couple of times since then, but for the last few months ALL my calls and emails go unanswered, and the voicemail box is full. I'm starting to wonder if this place still exists.
