The cat is a giant car parking in front of the front desk. So adorable! Very affordable books and have lots of seat space for reading
There are few places quite like The Book Trader in America. Most booksellers offer new titles; The Book Trader has mountains and mountains of wonderful used books, musical records, physical video recordings, and even postcards. If you're like me and love books, you could spend hours here. The store has two levels. The lower levels have a great non-fiction selection. You can find books on everything from history to psychology to science. Go upstairs, and you'll find a comparably strong selection of used novels, biographies, essays, and even vinyl records. Definitely bring your own bag. The cashier graciously offered a Trader Joe's bag as a way for me to carry my books home after purchase, but you might not get so lucky. Prices are very reasonable, and staff are friendly as well. There is also a nice little cat who lives in the store. Please don't accidentally let him out.
I absolutely loved this place! Staff is kind and helpful. They have a massive selection of books and media. Found some great obscure 1960s scifi books and 1990s scifi DVDs. Great prices too! AND THERE IS A KITTY!!!
A charming little bookstore, cute cat (I found him on the second floor!), and some nice comfy armchairs. The aisles can feel a little stuffy but overall I’d say it’s pretty organized, they don’t seem to turn AC on the second floor, so it felt a bit hot when I visited. Then again, it was an afternoon of July, everywhere’s too warm ;) I’d like to come back when the weather’s cooler and support local, indie business!
They have a really extensive book collection. Even though it's pretty tight and packed, the walking space was decent enough. I probably browsed for an hour. I didn't see a house cat so probably don't come if you only want to see the cat lol. I enjoyed how quiet it was. Prices were 'okay' but most decent books were priced 8-9USD. One book had the first couple pages torn, another had pen marks all over the poems, both at $8. Which isn't worth it for me. I can find cheaper options on thrift books online. Also, have back up cash on you. My discover credit card didn't work on their machine but worked in all the stores I visited in the same trip 😐 glad I had some cash!
