I want to give a review, because I received the book I wanted in a short time (I'm from Romania), I appreciate the care for the order and the price was cheaper than on amazon. Someone contacted me by mail to confirm my physical address and also they kept me updated all the way. Never an order made me feel so secure. And the book arrived in perfect condition, wrapped delicately and also with a postcard. I thank you so much! it made my day! keep it going like this📚
If I have a free afternoon and money/book vouchers burning a hole in my pocket one of my favourite things to do is come to this bookshop- the staff are lovely, the range is INCREDIBLE with pretty much everything you could ever want including what I believe to be the best graphic novel section in Edinburgh! They are also, as the best indie bookshops should be, wonderfully inclusive and progressive in their selection and atmosphere, full of important ideas and angles and just generally what a great bookshop should be. I’m lucky I don’t live in Porty or I would be constantly broke coming here-keep it up!
My wife and I were in the portobello bookshop on Sunday and were both blown away by the setup. Very clear and simple set up with such welcoming staff and a lovely atmosphere! Great selection of books aswell, I was hunting for some holiday reading which I found in abundance. We will be sure to be back in the future,
Possibly one of the best bookshops we went to all holiday! The staff were amazing, so friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed the staff picks shelf, and spied that a staff member(s?) had designed some of the tote bags on sale, which made them extra special! I loved the one that looked like a dragon. There's a great range of books here, and it felt like a very welcoming environment. I picked out 4 books and exercised some self restraint to not buy more, there's just so many great options! A must visit bookshop!
I was visiting Portobello and fell in love with this bookstore, to the point where I was incredibly sad to leave. The book selection was thoughtfully curated and included a range of titles I hadn't seen before, even in relatively niche non-fiction areas where I already own a dozen titles on the topic. The store also felt welcoming and inclusive, with staff who were happy to help with questions but also equally happy to leave me to my own devices as I browsed quietly for an hour. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular; but as it stands, I hope to return someday.
