I had a skirt I needed to be taken in prior to a trip. I was on a time crunch around the holidays. I went on a Monday around 5:30. The woman there only spoke Spanish, but was very kind and we were able to make it work. The skirt was ready two days later. The timing was perfect!
I stupidly smooshed a snap button to an unusable state after watching a YouTube video on how to fix a snap button that keeps unsnapping. The seamstress could fix with a button what a tailor in Ithaca NY would have replaced with Velcro (no thanks!) for $25, work within 4 days. Importantly, it is cash only.
Brought in a simple white dress for my elopement and asked for it to be shortened, taken in (was 2 sizes too big) and to change the straps since I didn’t like the ones that were on the dress. I was told it would be ready in 2 weeks. When I came in 2 weeks later, the straps were shortened (not changed to different ones) the dress was taken in too tight and she had not yet shortened the dress. She asked me if I gained weight since I last saw her 2 weeks ago, which I did not, but then agreed that she would fix/loosen it so it fits me better. She told me to come in 4 days later. I came in at that time and she had not touched the dress since and told me to come back the next day. At this point my wedding was in 2 days. Next day she just shortened the dress and did not fix the straps or make the dress bigger for me. I was still charged the original agreed upon amount. The dress fit, however it was very uncomfortable with how tight it was and my skin on my back was being pushed together the whole time. Instead of the original agreed upon 2 weeks it became 3 weeks waiting period, she did not change the straps, dress was taken in too tight and not fixed (and blamed on me), and the dress was shortened at the last second the day before my wedding day. Total cost was $450 when I had only spent $100 on the original dress.
I was panicking to find a place that would alter my wedding dress on time. (I still had a few months until the wedding, but most tailors wouldn’t take it). Thankfully, Dirce took it and did a phenomenal job in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. You can tell she really takes pride in her work. It was the dress of my dreams, and it fit perfectly. Everyone told me I looked beautiful and that it was well tailored.
No nonsense alteration to my all lace engagement dress. She knows exactly what to do (and what cannot be done). I suggest you discuss your needs with her but be guided by her on what works (fabric, cut, etc). Cost is fair (I'm having my wedding dress altered so I know how much that costs). [I ordered the lace dress online a size up as I want to have alteration so that it fits me perfectly.]
