My border collie Harlow has visited Veterinary Specialist Services Carrara on multiple occasions due to recurrent hip dislocations. This time, she required a toggle (artificial ligament) surgery. From start to finish, the care we received was exceptional. Pam at reception was nothing short of amazing — kind, patient, and incredibly helpful. She went above and beyond to answer all of my questions and address my concerns, and I am so grateful for the genuine compassion she showed us. Dr Darren performed Harlow’s surgery and was outstanding throughout the entire process. During our consultation, he was warm, personable, and deeply empathetic. He took the time to explain everything clearly, put our minds at ease, and provided thoughtful, professional guidance on the best path forward for Harlow’s recovery. I cannot recommend Dr Darren and the entire team at Veterinary Specialist Services Carrara highly enough. Every visit reassures me that Harlow is in the very best hands and will always be treated with the utmost care and compassion.

About 1 year ago, my pup was diagnosed with an oral plasmacytoma. We were referred to VSS as our local vet in Northern rivers hadn’t had much experience with this diagnoses before. The Vets were absolutely amazing at VSS, especially Dr Natasha and Dr Jamie. Mojo (our Labrador) can be quite fearful of Vet clinics, however, they were extremely respondent of Mojo and his needs. Dr Natasha gave us updates regularly through the day, as we left moey there for scans and blood tests, which was extremely considerate and reassured us he was in amazing hands. We were then referred to Dr Jamie for the surgical operation. Dr Jamie gave us a detailed and thorough explanation of the process they were going to perform during Mojos surgery. After the operation, Dr Jamie was very responsive to any concerns and queries we had. Even though Moey has one less Canine, his quality of life has never been better and he enjoys every day to the fullest. We are so extremely grateful for the team at VSS, Veterinarians and Veterinary nurses, for helping Moey and allowing us to have more time with my best friend. Thank you so much 🐶

VSS Jindalee have been nothing short of Amazing!! From the moment we stepped through their doors lat one Fri night with a kitten that had a broken leg ( we found out later). They are super helpful and very organised in getting done what needs to be done! And communicated everything every step of the way! Our Kitty cat is on the mend! And we’re very greatful for everything ! Albeit we are now broke! But our kitty is well and healthy!! Thank you VSS!! I highly recommend these guys.

Lucy, my family’s little person with fur, was run over in March 2025 & suffered catastrophic injuries to her hips/pelvis and urinary tract. Dr Darren & the team were caring, honest & clear about what was required for Lucy’s recovery: the chances of her survival, the recovery time/process & the cost involved. At no time did they seek to mislead or “talk up” the reality of the situation. So going in, we knew what Lucy was up against. Lucy stayed with them for ten days and multiple surgeries. We were kept up to date of her progress, good & bad. Particular care was also shown to my daughter, who suffered a shock-induced pannic attack when at the clinic. For that i am eternally grateful. Lucy not only survived the trauma of the accident & surgeries, but has made a near full recovery, with 90% mobility & full continence (both of which were a 50/50 proposition). The owner & team also took into account our financial situation (& the psychological impact the event had on our children), & did their utmost to keep the costs within budget. In light of the extensive and intensive level of care Lucy required, (much of which was not initially foreseen), I am humbled & in awe of what the clinic did to ensure Lucy’s survival & return to us. Dr Darren nicknamed Lucy “The Beast” for her refusal to succumb & the fight & love she exhibited throughout the arduous treatment. Well we think of Dr Darren & nurses as “the Angels”.
