Tired of Dan Murphy’s and their range of wines, driven by commercial pressures? Direct Wines are the diametric opposite. My latest purchase from Direct Wines featured a stunning selection of premium, small-vineyard wines, one of which is valued at $520 (per the Vino App), and it was included in a promotion of 18 wines priced at an average of $20. Why not try them?
I bought 12 bottles of Curtis 38 year old tawny from them. The port was great. Amazingly fresh despite its age. But what was even more amazing was the service from winedirect.com.au! Because I needed to fly my 12 bottles home to Singapore and all the associated packing and invoicing (GST and WET) issues. Shout out to Elspeth Love and Abby Tooker. The both of them are the reason why I will buy from winedirect.com.au again!
I wouldn't recommend or purchase wine from these guys ever again. I bought a dozen Paulette's Riesling for $119 on offer form RRP$280. Instead a dozen Soar Riesling turn up at my door and guess what RRP$119. I phoned and emailed the company about this. I got 2 different responses. 1st response Soar Riesling is Paulette's Riesling bottled under a different label. 2nd response was that they had sold out of Paulette's and this was the next best option. Not sure if either of these are true but I imagine not. They offered me 10% off the Soar as compensation. Not impressed by this lot at all.
!!!UPDATE!!! -A big shout to Sam @ Winedirect who offered to replace our wines after confirmed they were lost, really great service!!! "Was great for the first two order, then the delivery of my latest order got lost because they did not provide any delivery notification or tracking details, I only found out the delivery was lost after I repeatedly email them and ask them to check the order status..."
First of all I must say that anyone who enjoys a great wine to check out Wine Direct first! The pricing of all their wines are second to none, offering a great selection of South Australian varieties. The website is easy to navigate and make a purchase and is also very informative of the wine you selected. Service is also outstanding and very helpful and happy to help out in express delivery, although I must say that delivery is exceptionally fast anyway. I would highly recommend Wine Direct for any wine purchase and will continue to use them in the foreseeable future! Sit back, relax and enjoy a great wine!
