First time visiting A1 Barber in Gastown, and I’m honestly glad I did. I found the shop through Google—great ratings, great reviews—so I decided to check it out for myself. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was on point: good music, great atmosphere, and a genuinely friendly team. Everyone seemed happy to be there and excited about what they do, which says a lot. I booked with Mike, and it was a great experience start to finish. We had solid communication before and during the cut—talked about what I was looking for, what works best for me, and even shared a bit about where we’re both from. Easy, natural conversation, which made the whole experience even better. Mike’s work is detailed, precise, and thoughtful. He really takes his time, checks in, and makes sure everything looks right. You can tell he’s skilled, careful, and takes pride in his craft. Clean cuts, sharp scissors work, and overall just solid barbering. Everyone at the shop seems great, but since I personally worked with Mike, I highly recommend him. That said, the whole team looks strong—I just went with him and he absolutely delivered. If you’re in Gastown and looking for a quality cut, hit up A1 Barber and ask for Mike. You’ll be in good hands.
Well haven't been here yet but found a place that is much closer to home and open this late so going to give it a check and seems like a chill place good vibes all around we shall see and also like how easy it is to book an appointment and u can also choose who cuts ur hair there read their lil bios and choose who to cut this old salt and pepper hairdew well more salt than pepper right now lol anyways will leave a review when I am done getting my moped chopped. For now I will give a 5star just cause no reason to give anything less until it is done but have a feeling won't change the rating once I am done
These guys are dope. I’ve had two excellent haircuts here, with different barbers - Deniz and Mike. On the first hair cut with Deniz, I left with a recommendation for adjusting my hair style, which my previous barber hadn’t mentioned in the 3 years that I’d bein going to her. Mike listened very closely during the second haircut. He applied my thoughts regarding how I wanted to adjust my style only slightly in preparation for a big trip while also keeping options open for a major style change the next time around. Both times, I left feeling both more confident about my current hairstyle and with a better plan for how I want to continue to improve it soon. Thanks guys!
Booked a cut with Mike last minute and he was great. Friendly, good convo, and good cut. Listened and cared about what I want, asked me questions throughout the cut and made sure I am satisfied at the end.
Not from Vancouver, but I needed a trim for my textured fringe blowout. I checked Google Maps, and this was one of the first results that popped up. (It was sponsored, but whatever.) Booked Luke, and when I pulled up, he was very welcoming. I just needed a mid taper on the sides and a low taper in the back. He did exactly what I needed, and suggested a couple of other trims to keep everything looking nice and neat. Got my hair washed as well towards the end. Would definitely recommend Luke for a haircut. Great quality and service for an amazing price.
