I am extremely thankful for and impressed with the karate program at Action Karate Northern Liberties. As a kindergarten teacher at a neighborhood school, I had the opportunity to see Action Karate visit our school and demonstrate the skills and values they teach. After witnessing their approach firsthand, I decided to enroll my own five-year-old daughter. She has been attending for several months now and has even participated in her first tournament with Action Karate. The skills and knowledge she is gaining are truly immeasurable. The weekly lessons have had a positive impact on her self-control, both at home and in the classroom. She has become more independent, confident, and outgoing since beginning her karate journey. I cannot thank Ms. Mary and Mr. Stephan enough for their dedication and support. Olivia absolutely loves coming to class and is always excited to bring a friend along. I am so excited to see all the skills, confidence, and life lessons she will continue to gain in the years to come.
As a student who is training to become a black belt, Action Karate North liberties has allowed me to become better not only physically but sharpen my mental and emotional skills inside and outside of my school work as a pre junior at Drexel University. Our instructors are kind, welcoming, and allow us to become better than yesterday. Working and seeing not only the adult class, but juniors and ninja sharks grow inspire me to continue becoming a leader in everyday life. I recommend this place to anyone trying to find a start not only in their physical health journey but in anything they may be trying to start up on, especially building a new foundation of friends/family!
My son loves Action Karate Northern Liberties this has become the perfect outlet for him and gives him the balance of protecting himself and discipline. Besides that the staff there is very warm and inviting and also supportive.
I’ve been attending here for a few months now with my son. My son is in the ninja sharks and on the spectrum, so I truly appreciate when I can find a place where he can learn to be a better version of him, while being accepted for who he is. I love it here! (Wish parking was better but it’s south philly lol.) If you want a place where you can feel the community, AK Northern Liberties is the place! And you can be healthy too!
Miss. Mary and Mr. Stephan have created a really special place at Action Karate Northern Liberties! That isn’t something I say lightly. I’ve been in and around karate and martial arts for more than 20 years. After moving to Philly this summer, I joined what can only be described as a team. The welcome, kindness, and interest in me that they and everyone at Action Karate have shown is incalculable. The growth I’ve see in my own confidence as well as the growth I’ve seen in my classmates, and the younger students would seem hyperbolic if I tried to explain. Anyone who has ever thought about trying martial arts, or is looking for an outlet to spend some energy or maybe you’re just looking to make some friends, THIS is the place. This dojo is home to multicultural, multilingual people; as well as folks with various physical and mental abilities. Visit Action Karate Northern Liberties once and you’ll see proof that they’re more than just a karate dojo. They’re friends, life coaches, a support network, a village. Goodness knows we could all benefit from a larger village. When they say all are welcome, they mean it! I look forward to my next 20 years of karate with Action Karate ❤️
