I attended the introductory class in early 2025 and instantly fell in love with the craft. Every week, I look forward to the warm, welcoming atmosphere at Altar Pottery. Attila and Daniele are absolutely wonderful—so patient, encouraging, and experienced. I've met some truly lovely people in class, and feel lucky to be part of such a positive, friendly community. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Particularly love that they cater to different times - am workshops, pm and Sundays

I can't think of a better place to learn the art of ceramics than here. I'd wanted to throw for a while as I'd had a couple of goes on a wheel years earlier and I found this place from googling. I did two intro courses then started regular weekly classes in march 25. By the end of the year I was selling my own pots at local markets and I credit the expert level of teaching I've received during those 10 months to the fact I was able to produce things that were actually saleable! You can also build by hand if you prefer it to wheel-throwing. Producing objects in clay is incredibly good for anyone who is stressed or maybe has mental health issues as you are totally in the moment with what you're producing and the possibilities are endless. I'd just lost my dad not long before I booked my first lesson and it helped process the grief through the clay somehow. Don't hesitate - just do it!

I did my first introductory class at Altar Pottery in Jan 2024, and there's been no looking back. I had never worked with clay before, but two years on, I can no longer imagine life without it. Atilla and Daniele are the most kind and generous teachers one can ask for - helping you progressively build on your skills, while also developing your own creative style. The wonderful community of potters you meet is a major bonus, the best cheerleaders a newbie will ever have. And of course, working with clay can be extremely meditative and I can vouch for the tremendous mental health benefits. If you've been on the fence about trying pottery - get in touch with the lovely folks at Altar now now NOW!!

A wonderful community of clay creation. Attila and Daniele curate an atmosphere of belonging, exploration and fun. I’ve been coming to Altar pottery for three years or so now and I don’t know what I would do without it. My home from home with much more serenity.

Don’t just think about it, do it! Attending an intro class at Altar pottery was the best decision I made nearly 2 years ago. Pottery has brought new skills, wonderful community and a sense of calm when I need it most. You will be nurtured by the most amazing people, whether they be our 2 tutors or fellow potters who are all at varying levels, but all equally encouraging. Go on, come along and get your hands dirty :-)
