Alts took me in right away! Such amazing service. Lidia is a sweetheart and was able to fix my dress (and an additional garment I brought in not intending to alter) on such short notice! Amazing staff. I always find myself coming back here!
It would have been difficult for them to be kinder and more attentive. Five stars. I will be back. Brought pants to wear around the city that were flannel lined but not altered correctly. They rushed the job and got it done at the beginning of our time there on Friday morning. I was able to wear them all day Friday, all day Saturday, and all day Sunday. Stayed toasty warm. Looked stylish. They even gave me advice on length. 5/5! Will visit again!
Tyrone Jones at the Grand Central location is my tailor-hero. Besides being expertly knowledgeable and skillful, he has a great sense of style and is a pleasure to work with. And if there are options to consider, I never feel rushed. One tricky project was a great Chloe jacket in camel hair that was shredding at its quilted-silk shoulders. It was unusable. He overlaid the worn areas with camel hair, and it looks perfect, as though it was designed that way. I’ve been coming to Tyrone for two years, for many items. He’s superb.
Tyrone Jones IS ABSOLUTELY A LIFESAVER. My wedding was literally in 2 days, and I gave a quick call to the 40th street Alts location. The clasp and hook on my wedding dress had broken, and they kindly took me in immediately. The team was so understanding and helpful. Tyrone immediately replaced the clasp for me (within 15 minutes) - and it was SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than the one that came with the dress itself. Truly so thankful. I was so stressed given the timing, but they were SO patient. I will also say, I did come here for my second dress for the wedding as well and they did a wonderful job. The team is really just so patient and caters to what you need. My dress was altered much faster than initially scheduled.
Avalon quickly transformed a dress I no longer wore into an adorable peplum top that I can see myself wearing much more often! I also had two formal wedding guest dresses tailored to fit me perfectly. While their prices are premium, you are definitely receiving premium service and peace of mind that you’ll be getting exactly what you asked for. I’ve been burned a couple times going to random dry cleaners for alterations and getting things back shorter than what I had requested. Highly recommend Alts - especially if you have any formal or event wear you want tailored to fit you perfectly!
