Before Arthur Murray Montclair, my now-husband and I were two painfully nervous, rhythm-challenged humans with absolutely zero confidence on a dance floor. After Arthur Murray Montclair? We walked into our wedding reception feeling like actual stars. Our first dance song was faster and more complicated than a typical wedding first dance — not the slow sway most couples choose — and somehow the pros at Arthur Murray choreographed it effortlessly. No stress. No hesitation. Just a perfectly tailored dance that fit the music, our personalities, and our (very real) beginner skill level. They made something that felt impossible feel completely doable — and even fun. And let me be clear: If you are getting married and want to start the night off correctly, with confidence, excitement, and your guests genuinely impressed — you need Arthur Murray to choreograph your first dance. Full stop. What truly surprised us was that taking dance lessons became our favorite part of wedding planning. In the middle of seating charts, vendor emails, and stress, these lessons were pure joy. We laughed constantly, bonded, and looked forward to every session. It didn’t feel like another “wedding task” — it felt like a date night we never wanted to miss. Our instructor Gabby deserves a standing ovation. She is warm, hilarious, endlessly encouraging, and somehow made us believe that we could realistically end up on Dancing With the Stars. She built our confidence week by week, never made us feel awkward or embarrassed, and celebrated every tiny win like it was a championship moment. Thanks to Arthur Murray Montclair (and Gabby!), we didn’t just survive our first dance — we owned it. We felt confident, connected, and genuinely proud of ourselves. If you’re even considering dance lessons for your wedding, stop debating and sign up. You will never regret it.
We had such an incredible experience working with Gabby at Arthur Murray to learn our dream wedding first dance. From start to finish, everything turned out perfectly. Gabby was patient, kind, and an amazing teacher — she made the entire process feel fun, approachable, and never overwhelming. Honestly, she felt more like a friend than an instructor, which made such a difference during what could have been a stressful time. Our only minor callout (not related to Gabby at all) is that the studio rooms can get busy, and we were sometimes sharing space with other lessons and music, which could be a bit distracting. If you’re someone who gets distracted easily, just be mindful of the time you book. Overall, we highly recommend Arthur Murray — and especially Gabby — for anyone looking to feel confident and prepared for their wedding dance. We’re so grateful for the experience!
We had such a wonderful experience at the studio. We wanted to do a choreographed dance for our wedding to wow our guests so we signed up for private lessons with Gabby. It was such an amazing experience. Gabby was patient, kind, and a great teacher and we were able to put together a fun, impressive dance. We were even able to learn how to do a lift! It was a complete suprise for our guests and they were honestly shocked that we had a choreographed dance. It was such a special time for us to learn this dance together and the classes really helped with the wedding stress. We would fully recommend this studio and Gabby is the best teacher!
Arthur Murray Montclair is the BEST place to learn your "first dance" for your wedding. My husband and I started private lessons with Gabby a few months before our wedding. Working with Gabby and the studio was the best part of wedding planning. We looked forward to the lighthearted, exciting lessons that brought us even closer after 9 years together! We still do our dance to ‘Sway (Quien Sera)’ by Dean Martin now, 2 months later. Francisco and I had very specific requests for the dance, mainly: the choreography should have an ease and natural flow with both the latin rhythms and old-timey swagger of the song, and we also wanted to learn to synchronize our movements as a couple even when we're out dancing unchoreographed. Of course, Gabby and the studio exceeded our expectations times a million! Thank you Gabby and thank you to the whole dance studio family!
We had the best experience working with Gian for our first dance! Going in, we were both nervous and felt like we had no rhythm, but he immediately made us feel comfortable and confident that we could learn how to dance. He not only taught us the steps with patience but also encouraged us to join their Friday group wedding dance classes, which turned out to be such a fun way to learn new dances and became a great date night out we always looked forward to. What really made our dance unforgettable was that he helped us incorporate 2 lifts into our routine. Thanks to his guidance, our first dance was one of the highlights of our wedding. We’re so grateful for his creativity, encouragement, and ability to make learning to dance fun. We highly recommend Gian to any couple preparing for their big day!
