I loved the communication and no-nonsense approach. I brought my ‘98 K1200RS to have the ABS pump replaced and for a general tune up. The work was completed in a timely manner and the old girl runs better (and faster) than ever and the brakes do what they’re supposed to do again (no more flashing lights on the dash). Great experience, highly recommend.
I’m a first time airhead owner who finally got my 79 RS running. It sounded good to me but I don’t know what good really is for an airhead so swung by Austin Moto Works out of the blue this morning for an expert opinion. Steve was busy working on another customer’s bike and I just tried to stay out of his way while we chatted. He shared some good tips and things to look out for and then took a listen and a quick timing check and called it well. He’s a very busy guy trying to run a business and I really appreciate him taking the time to educate me and will have no issues leaving the bike in his hands if something needs fixing in the future
Stephen handles his customers as a customer loves to be treated. Super responsive with details, questions and service. I trust this guy 100% with work and quotes. He went out of his way to help me make a repair decision. Very knowledgeable on bikes in general, but especially on BMWs that are highly complex.
Probably the weirdest customer service experience of my adult life. And I’m old! I arrived for my appointment and soon after, the owner Steve, kicked me out of his shop when I asked for a ballpark estimate for a repair. Said he could tell as soon as I pulled up that he couldn’t work with me, he had plenty of work already and that if I couldn’t trust him I should leave. For the record, as I semi-apologetically attempted to explain, trust has nothing to do with asking for an estimate. Having just met the guy, trust had nothing to do with anything, I just didn’t want to leave a perfect stranger with a blank check. I left feeling a little sorry for the guy. Must be unpleasant to be so unhappy and have such feral social skills. Ironically, I met his dad who was there and witnessed this. He seemed like a genuinely nice enough fella. Hmm… Glad I didn’t leave my ‘77 RS there. Makes sense why this place is not recommended by the local BMW rider’s group. Thought I’d give him a chance and my business since he’s nearby. Whoops!
Austin Moto Works, know their BMERS. They have looked after my K1200s with diligence and delight. After serving my bike for two years, my BMER has become as smooth as butter; I got a dope bike. You must be patient, but the work is done well. My suggestion, is to make an appointment. They are a busy shop. Steven and Eric are tasteful in how they approach your bike. The shop is full of options and two pros that go the extra mile for their customer. Call before you Drop off your bike.
