I love this place, great customer service and atmosphere. Always has a great selection and keeps great new books coming in! Also love the discounted books at the section out the front, always have to stop buy and see whats for offer! Staff are respectful, kind and the store has great values and doesn't seem afraid to speak truth to power, RESPECT!

Avid Reader feels like the beating heart of all West End once was—and all it still is in the memories of those who called it home before the high-rise apartments and the creeping tide of franchises. For intelligence, generosity, and for holding onto a piece of the suburb’s soul when so much else has been smoothed away.
I am absolutely grateful for the wonderful customer service! I’m currently on holiday but the team at Avid Reader helped me organise my order to be sent to my sister. The package was temporarily misplaced by Australia Post, but once it was found they re-sent it and made sure it arrived in time for Christmas (it did!). To Amy, Sarah, Kelly and everyone else at Avid Reader: thank you so much for going above and beyond to make my (and my sister’s) Christmas book dreams come true!!
I’ve been coming here since I was very young, and it’s a cozy place. I like how easy everything is to find. It’s nice because ever since getting a job, I’ve finally been able to afford the expensive paperblank books which are a guilty pleasure of mine. The store makes its political stance clear, which I don’t mind, because it lets you know what you’re financially supporting and makes sense as politics and literature are often intertwined.
Local bookshop at the heart of West End. Knowledgeable and friendly staff - I mean, fellow book lovers. Very recommended
