As we came into the restaurant, the hostess wasn’t particularly pleasant and seemed like she didn't want to be there. Our server was friendly but rushed and was distracted. At one point he asked how our food was, and as I was replying that I didn't really enjoy it, he was already turning around and walking off while saying, "That's great!" The Maduros and sauces were good. The Mango Guacamole was also good but it was a bit disappointing as it was only a bit of "mango salsa" spooned over the top of the guac. We mixed it in to spread the flavor more. I ordered the Fajita Burrito and it had way too much lime for my liking. I had 3 bites then stopped. I also ordered the The First Punch drink and it was mostly ice, only slightly sweet, and didn’t have much flavor for something that includes dragon berry rum, pineapple rum, orange, lime, and pomegranate. I do appreciate the meals sizes for the price though.
Last night we received good service but poor quality food. The hostess and our server were great. The cocktails we ordered sounded interesting, but overpriced for the small portions and poorly mixed (margarita, bourbon sasafrass, and tequila old fashioned). The margaritas tasted like mocktails. The apps were decent and came quickly. I found a long hair embedded in the first half of a BBQ quesadilla. After taking a few minutes to find my appetite, I tried again yet bit into ANOTHER long hair also embedded in the food. I let our server know, and she quickly apologized and offered to remake the food but I wasn’t hungry anymore. I would not recommend Avo until the bar and kitchen get an overhaul. Clearly the kitchen needs sanitation standards (hair nets) and the cocktails need a revamp to make the small pours a higher quality deserving of the price. Also, the menus were unreasonably sticky.
The food was pretty good but nothing special. Good cocktails. Little pricey but it’s that area (which is a great area). Overall it wasn’t bad.
This place was a dream! We were visiting from out of state, and we couldn’t have been more impressed. We got the sweet corn salsa, which was amazing and such a good price for the portion. Then we got traditional tacos with shrimp and the lobster taco. Both AMAZING, but you can’t beat their traditional tacos especially with the shrimp. It was such a beautiful place and a great atmosphere. The woman serving us was extremely kind, and attentive! 10/10 recommend.
First I’ll start off with the service. We went during lunch time and the restaurant was fairly crowded upon arrival, but it cleared out before we were finished. It was literally only one server and he was bartending! He did exceptionally well taking care of each table all alone. I forgot his name, but it started with an R and word glasses. He was so nice and patient with us. Answered all questions and gave good suggestions. He was great! The food was pretty decent. The prices are kind of high if you ask me. I think the Mexican pizza was $27 and it was more cheese than anything. One big holiday was the drink I ordered, I had two they were good. The restaurant was clean bathrooms including. It was a nice experience I just don’t know if I’ll be back. A lot of the menu options had pork in them which made it a little difficult for me to order.
