Black Sheep has been an amazing place for my kids to learn and grow. We homeschool and are always looking for opportunities to try new things and Thursday morning’s class was a perfect fit. We’re in east El Paso and it is well worth the weekly drive to the Mesa area. We came in not knowing anything about jiujitsu or martial arts (beyond whatever they might have picked up from Karate Kid!). Aldo has provided a place where my four boys can practice and push their limits safely, while learning discipline, respect, and patience. What I’ve most appreciated is that they’ve learned that they are stronger than they thought, in more ways than one, and it has done great things for their self-confidence.
Training at Black Sheep BJJ was amazing. Professor Aldo is amazing with kids and adults. Environment was so friendly and welcoming by staff and families. I will definitely be training here when we are back in town!
Black Sheep is a comprehensive martial arts academy that has significantly enhanced my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and MMA skills. Before enrolling, I felt I had hit a plateau in my training, but under the guidance of Professors Aldo and Oscar, I experienced remarkable improvement in a short period. This school not only excels in Jiu Jitsu but also offers programs in MMA and Judo. I chose to participate in the MMA program as well, and now I train in both disciplines, which has been incredibly fulfilling. Unlike many BJJ schools that start students on their knees, Black Sheep incorporates wrestling techniques, making the training more applicable to real-life situations. Best martial arts gym in El Paso — hands down. Whether you’re looking to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) or Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Black Sheep BJJ is the place to be. This is the first jiu-jitsu gym I’ve ever trained at, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to begin my martial arts journey. I originally joined to improve my health and fitness — and since then, I’ve lost weight, gained confidence, and found a new passion that’s made me a better person on and off the mats. Sensei Aldo and Sensei Oscar have both played a huge role in helping me change my lifestyle. Their passion for the art and genuine care for every student shines through in every class. They’ve made me fall in love with martial arts, especially now that the gym offers MMA training led by experienced pros. The environment here is what truly sets Black Sheep apart. Training feels like you’re with family, not just teammates. Everyone supports one another, and there’s a strong sense of respect, fun, and commitment to growth. Since joining, I’ve competed in several North American Grappling Association (NAGA) tournaments and placed in every one — something I never thought possible before starting this journey. Whether you're trying to get in shape, learn self-defense, or compete, this gym welcomes everyone with open arms. Great, friendly environment that doesn't shy away from the core fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu. Beginner friendly, even for me and my family. We always enjoy the classes and the coaches are knowledgeable, friendly, amd caring. With the recent addition of classes like kids MMA and Judo, we greatly appreciate the variety that they have to offer. I highly recommend Black Sheep El Paso!
