Dinnie- I don’t even know where to begin. Dinnie didn’t just “do my hair” — she genuinely gave me my confidence, my joy, and a piece of myself I thought I’d lost. Walking into her chair, I felt defeated by my hair. Walking out, I felt reborn. She listened, she cared, she understood exactly what I needed even when I couldn’t find the words. Her talent is unbelievable, but her heart is what makes the whole experience life-changing. For the first time in a long time, I look in the mirror and actually feel like me — not hiding, not compensating, not wishing for something different. She gave me hair that feels natural, beautiful, and truly mine. I can’t explain how huge that is. If you are looking for someone who can completely transform the way you feel about yourself, someone who is equal parts artist, healer, and magician — go see her. She didn’t just fix my hair. She gave me back my life.
I had an amazing first curly cut experience at The Back Sheet Salon with Tombra! Everyone was so welcoming — I instantly felt comfortable and cared for. I came in nervous because of past experiences with stylists who didn’t understand my hair, but Tombra truly listened to me and made me feel seen. She explained every step of the process, shared tips and product recommendations, and taught me how to care for and style my hair (4b/4c high density). My hair has never looked this hydrated or defined! The salon vibes were great (music, energy, everything), and the prices are reasonable for the quality and care you get. If you have coily or textured hair and want a safe, knowledgeable natural salon in SoCal — this is it!
I've visited twice now and had a great experience both times. First salon I've been to that I'd highly recommend to be honest. Tombra did a post-braid detangle and silk press for me during my first visit. Second visit was a wash and curly set with Dinnie. Both stylists did amazing work; were gentle yet thorough with my hair. The salon is amenable to any accessibility needs and uplifts all gender presentations and hair types!! The prices are quite reasonable relatively and I've enjoyed the environment being there both times :)
This is by far my favorite salon. It was love at first sight. I also love that they're called Black Sheep, because I've always identified as one myself. I booked a wash + cut + style with Mimi, and from start to finish, the experience was flawless. The environment is incredibly relaxing: no judgment, no pressure to talk too much or too little. (In the past, barbers made me feel awkward and judged for being on the quieter side, but here I felt completely at ease.) Mimi is smart, easygoing, and polite - she nailed my wolf cut perfectly. I left feeling not just great about my hair, but genuinely comfortable and cared for. The rest of the staff are equally friendly and cool, which really adds to the welcoming atmosphere. HIGHLY recommend this salon. They check every box and then some. If you're looking for a place that blends skill, comfort, and personality – this is it.
Great salon - extremely friendly, inclusive, and they want to do whats best for you. You can trust all of the stylists bc they want you to look great and feel like your best self! Myself and multiple friends have had great cuts with Dinnie - check her out shes great !
