If you are looking for a sign to take a dance class at Blue Suede Ballroom in Memphis, this is it. Last year my husband and I signed up for a rumba class at Blue Suede Ballroom, and let me tell you, it was EVERYTHING. The music, the energy, the instruction, the way they broke down the steps so even beginners felt confident. It was fun, flirty, and such a refreshing date night experience. The instructors made us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in. No awkward vibes. No pressure. Just great teaching, lots of laughs, and a room full of people learning how to move with rhythm and confidence. The rumba is known as the dance of love, and after that class, we understood why. We left feeling connected, energized, and maybe a little extra romantic. Fast forward nine months and we welcomed a beautiful baby girl. Yes. You could say Blue Suede Ballroom changed our lives in more ways than one. All jokes aside, that class reminded us how important it is to have fun together as a couple. To try new things. To step out of routine. To move together. There is something powerful about learning to follow and lead on a dance floor that spills over into real life. Andriy was so great to work with for our wedding first dance. We are not the most coordinated and he helped us create a simple, yet beautiful dance that we could easily master and not be nervous about.
