Horrendous administration and management to deal with, particularly Beth and Bronwyn. The musicians, however, are absolutely lovely. Update: I stand by my review. The tone of leadership, and the way you support diverse families and their circumstances, matters regardless of “terms and conditions.” What keeps families at BMS is not rigid policies, but a progressive and positively supportive social contract. It is this openness and respect that builds trust—not the standoffish manner in which you currently speak and engage.
Such an amazing environment! I have been attending BMS for 9 years now, the teachers are all so helpful and have pushed me to do the best in my musical journey!
My child has really enjoyed group piano lessons at BMS through the Encore on Keys program over the past year. It’s a bit different from many piano classes in Australia, using solfege (Do Re Mi) and focusing on musicianship, like rhythm, sight-singing, and aural skills, not just piano technique. The pace might feel slow if you're seeking quicker piano progress, but it builds a strong musical foundation. For families new to solfege, there may be a small adjustment period, especially if your child has learned with alphabet notes (A-G) first. But from my own experience, both systems are valuable, and it’s definitely possible to learn both. My child has been very happy in Angela’s class, and we’re grateful for the way she nurtures focus and keeps the joy of music alive in young children.
Our son has been with BMS Academy for the past four years, and he is almost six now! We have had a consistently positive experience with the teachers and the administration team. They do make a lot of effort to ensure each child develops a love and ear for music. Ms Ngairie has a super power in engaging kids and very patient with parents like us who do not know any instruments. We wholeheartedly recommend BMS Academy.
Been taking grandchildren here for 4 years. It’s been a fabulous experience for them and they even recorded weekly videos to continue lessons during Covid lockdowns! It’s wonderful to see the progression from a 14 month old just barely observing lessons to a toddler fully engaged with songs and instruments. The program encourages musical progression as they go from songs and playing with the instruments to more structured involvement, We have had Miss Beth for those 4 years and she verges on sainthood with her ability to engage all the little ones and keep them interested and happy. We live in the Belconnen area but happy to make the journey each week for a short lesson as it’s worth it!
