Fantastic staff member working there today Christmas Eve 2025, all by herself! Easily their busiest day of the year. She handled the throng of people deftly while still stacking books on the shelves! True definition of a hard worker and A+ customer service skills. Helped me find a section I didn't know existed and ended up buying three books for presents, each more perfect than the last. Well done to the whole team behind this business and I hope the Xmas/boxing day sales stand you in good stead for the coming year ❤️
I'm a huge fan of Book Grocer. I mainly buy on line, as I'm pretty old & now find the train journey onto the city a bit daunting. They have such a wide variety from which to choose, prices are marvellous & service is wonderful.
I recently visited The Book Grocer because of my strong passion for reading; and I was genuinely impressed by the entire experience. From the moment I entered, I was struck by the store’s inviting atmosphere: neatly arranged shelves, a wide variety of titles, and a sense that this is more than a discount outlet; the space felt curated and welcoming. The staff greeted me pleasantly and offered helpful guidance when I asked about finding a specific book. I purchased a copy of Apollo 9 by Jeffrey Kluger; the same book I had seen on larger online retailers listed for roughly AUD 45 (and at other physical bookstores for AUD 25–35); yet here it was available for just AUD 15. The value was exceptional, and the transaction was simple and efficient. Overall, the combination of competitive pricing, helpful and courteous staff, and a well-presented store significantly enhanced the experience. I left feeling both satisfied with my purchase and encouraged by the prospect of returning. As a professional who appreciates both quality and value, I regard The Book Grocer as a noteworthy option for anyone passionate about reading and smart book-buying.
Staff was very helpful. I went to the Northcote store. I went there a week after I ordered my book and the staff still remembered me. My book came in quick but I could not get back till a week had passed. Shop was well laid out, neat and tidy. Online shopping is possible but I decided to visit the store. The book I bought was on special, $10, a bargain, most other places were selling my book from $14 to high twenties! Prices of other books seem reasonable, not overly priced. There is free on-street parking for quick dash in & out's. Busy street for parking but I managed to get parking the 2 times I went. Nice little nic-nac shops nearby and the cafes there looked inviting. Overall a very good experience👍🙂
Such a wonderful bookstore with a fantastic range of books. Phenomenal prices too!!! I am not a fiction reader (don't even own one fiction book!!) but am an avid buyer of books relating to my deep passion for photography, design, creativity, baking and travel etc. I have always had exceptional service and outstanding experience at the Book Grocer. Highly recommended!!
