Knowledgeable staff! Fun stuff... something for EVERYBODY. The only thing that kept me from buying more is I flew this time.... even on a Sunday it was hopping and lots of shoppers and helpful staff! A Must See for any Anime devotee.
For books and graphic novels this place is great always good finds and good prices. But I’ve noticed recently large spikes in their prices for their shows and movies. What used to be $5 is now $15 easily. The same either their video games prices are probably better at GameStop honestly. For movies and shows I’ve noticed they’re cheaper elsewhere even Amazon has cheaper blu rays and 4k. Really sad about units recent change its very obvious to me someone who would buy here very often. I’m not sure why they decided to do this but Im hoping they revert back soon .
Normally I like going here to find obscure and rare figures. The employees are mostly nice as well. However, I have two gripes. My first gripe is that I have bought figures for almost full price only to realize once I'm home that they are either broken or missing pieces. That normally isn't a super big deal, since I can kind of expect that from a secondhand store. However, today I attempted to sell back 3 figures and a bunch of plushes. This location does not accept plushes, which is fine and not an issue I was just confused by it since they sell plushes at this location. Of my three figures that I gave to be sold, I was told only one of my figures could be accepted since the other two had components missing. And then, the employee showing me this SNAPPED THE SWORD off of my figure, further breaking it. I was not offered an apology, he only shoved the sword back into its spot and told I could get $5 for the figure they could take. I'm not upset about the figure being broken, since I know I can fix it at home. I am upset by the double standard of selling broken figures while also not accepting figures of similar quality levels and then not taking responsibility for causing damage to figures they cannot accept.
There's always something interesting at Bookoff! From a large selection of Funko Pop collectibles to vintage video games & systems to books & "graphic novels"; there's something for everyone in the family. Don't be fooled, it's not exclusively Japanese language items so don't be intimidated if you don't read/speak it. Their inventory is always changing because they will buy your gently used books & collectibles. We always have fun here!
They had a complete offering of books and used games and systems. It was an incredible step back in time. The staff members were friendly and helpful. The clientele was provided a less friendly experience. They ranted about me photographing them even though I explained they had no expectation of privacy in a public retail environment. I then attempted to explain the project to them and still no go. We exchanged a few swear words with each other and ended the conversation. Besides the grumpy clientele, I had a fun and productive visit to Book Off.
