As both a parent and a student of jiu jitsu, I can’t recommend Ben Hall’s Carlson Gracie academy enough. My child, who usually trains at United (also part of the Carlson Gracie team), dropped in for their very first class here ahead of an upcoming competition. Right from the start, the instructors already knew who they were and made them feel completely welcome, which instantly set the tone for a positive experience. What really stood out to me as a parent was the safe and supportive environment. The coaches were technical and clear in their teaching, but just as importantly, they created a space where my child felt comfortable, encouraged, and part of the team straight away. As someone who also trains, I could see the level of detail and care that goes into every class – it’s exactly the kind of environment you want for both kids and adults. Ben and his team genuinely care about their students’ growth, on and off the mats, and it shows. We left feeling grateful, confident, and very much a part of the Carlson Gracie community.
Training at this academy has been an amazing experience. I first joined in 2022 but had stopped for personal reasons. When I returned 2 years later, I was welcomed back with open arms, like I'd never left - that’s the kind of culture this place has. Ben isn’t just there to teach, he genuinely cares about his students and it shows. Every class is fun, challenging, and you always leave having learned something new. Couldn’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for a great place to train and be part of a supportive crew.
Ben is the most exceptional teacher. Truly a master at BJJ as well as a master teacher. I do private lessons with him and I can't imagine learning from anyone else! As a woman, it can be hard to navigate starting a martial art like this, and I can say that because of Ben's kind, clear and fun instruction I instantly felt comfortable and fell in love with it from the first lesson! If you are thinking about learning in a safe, professional environment with the best.. then this is your place.

Fantastic gym to learn Brazilian Jiujitsu. Professor Ben Hall is a great coach and there is a great team environment. Variety of classes and class times to help suit anyone’s timetable.
