I really love CVA. There is something for everyone in the family. I have nieces that attended summer camp this year and can't wait to go back next year. I also participated in a workshop in the spring. I like to attend the First Friday events with friends. There are so many local artists getting to show their work. They have a great store up front where I like to buy small gifts. Looking forward to the holiday season and searching more unique gifts for family and friends.

We drove a half an hour to see a show. The hours posted on the Website showed a closing time of 5:00. When we arrived at 2:00 we were told the gallery was closed the rest of the day for a staff meeting. Very unprofessional! Be sure to call before you go.

This organization and its programming has changed drastically since I first encountered it around 2010. With new staff and leadership, the programming has been more intentional in being inclusive when it comes to representing the diverse communities in Greensboro and the artists within them. It has been an honor to serve them as an advisory board member as well as a regularly participating artist in my early years. Recently, in 2021, I was struggling finding a space to promote the artwork of a Durham-based artist who is internationally collected and we struggle to find a space that would not have a high rental cost, which often times is a barrier for artists of color to be shown and represented. This organization off at their space and allowed us to flourish and for this artist to able to hold space for a black woman to be heard and not have to pay her hard-earned money to be welcomed. This gallery also aims to be more accessible for communities and people who have not been able to physically attend. On top of the regular programming of exhibitions and events, they have made good efforts at creating virtual platforms and experiences for people to engage with the art, the artists, and the rest of its programming.

I am giving a rating of 1 star. My step daughter attend camp today for the very first time at your location. Once camp was over, she was told to go to one place for pick up and her grandmother was told another place to pick her up. The child waited over 20 minutes by herself until someone realized she was by herself. A phone call was made to address the issue and was told it is ok for a 12 year old to roam around by their self. It is NOT safe for a 12 year old or any kid to be roaming around a 4 story building by their self and especially if they have not ever been there before. This will be the last time she will ever attend camp with this company.
