Alex was amazing from the moment we walked in. He made us feel comfortable right away. I took my two oldest kids, ages nine and seven, and we got a day pass. Alex walked us around, explained how everything works, and spent time making sure we understood the system. We ended up spending a couple of hours there and mostly stayed around what they call the turtle. The kids had a great time! There were plenty of routes that felt approachable. We started with VB and worked our way into V0. It was fun, manageable, and encouraging. I was honestly a little hesitant to bring my kids because I thought they might be too young, but they absolutely loved it. Now they are already asking when we can go back, so I guess we will be making that happen. Overall, it was a really welcoming environment. The place is clean, airy, and feels like a strong community. Parking was easy, even though it was getting busy by the time we arrived. We had a lot of fun and will definitely be back.
This gym is great. Hands-down the gym itself is fantastic. Great route setting, great vibes--clean, spacious, it's got it all--except for one brutally vital thing and you know where this is going...parking. We moved here in 2020 and when we arrived I was a daily climber, I climbed every day for years prior. I joined as an annual member and continued to climb through 2022, but as climbing got trendier (a good thing! Everyone should climb!) it became impossible. The parking became entirely untenable. If I tried to meet my brother there for a post-work climb sesh, we'd be doing laps around the block for upward of 45min, blowing through our climbing time. And if you get a tandem spot, that's great, but then you're just waiting for the dreaded PA announcement that you need to go take care of that, so you don't get to, like, chill. Sadly, I haven't been in over a year because every time i get the itch, I need to reckon with an impossible parking situation. I hope it's improved since I last went, but driving past the gym, it doesn't appear so. There's a satellite lot but even it fills up and during peak hours, like after work, when the neighbors are home, street parking is impossible as well. Here's hoping a solution emerges.
Loved it! Visiting LA for a few days from the Bay Area and got to spend a couple of hours here. Very friendly staff, very fantastic boulder settings, and great music! And easy to access via public transportation! 😍
Cliffs of Id is hands down one of the best climbing gyms in the area. The facility is spacious, clean, and well-designed, with a great variety of routes for all skill levels—whether you’re into bouldering or rope climbing. The setting is creative and frequently updated, which keeps things fun and challenging. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. What really sets this gym apart is the welcoming, inclusive community—it’s a great place to learn, train, or just have fun with friends. Highly recommend for climbers of all levels!
I just stared coming here recently, and the facility is amazing. theres a ton of space and they change the routes pretty regularly. the top rope area and the gym are also great, but what stood out to me the most was the staff. every time I asked to rent a bag of chalk, they gave it to me for free. this happened five different times with different people, and they're always so nice. the people there are also pretty nice. overall amazing climbing gym.
