Disappointed with their policy for the student intro special. I paid for a drop in class at the recommendation of a friend, and after class I learned about the $50 two week unlimited intro special. They refused to deduct my drop in fee from the intro special - I would have to pay the $50 on top of the $27. Had I learned about the intro special before class, the drop in class would have been included in the intro special. That makes no sense to me, and I’ve never had another dance studio, yoga studio, climbing gym, etc try to enforce something like that. It really doesn’t make for a great intro experience. Otherwise the facility is really nice and the teachers were great.

My experience with DVS has been so great, all the instructors create a safe environment especially for beginners and help you advance your skills. The classes are not only informative but also light hearted and fun. The community at DVS is also so wonderful, you’re bound to meet wonderful people and grow!

I’ve been taking lessons from Juan Carlos for the past couple of months, and I can honestly say it’s been an incredible experience. From the very first class, I was impressed by Carlos’ commitment to both the fundamentals and building technique for Casino. He has a fantastic ability to break down the most intricate movements and make them feel accessible, starting with solid footwork and gradually building up to more complex sequences. What I really appreciate is how Carlos always emphasize the basics—footwork, hand movements, and the flow between steps—before moving on to the fun stuff. This approach not only makes learning more manageable but ensures that each move feels grounded and natural. His focus on the fundamentals has helped me improve my dancing more in the last couple of months than I ever expected. Another thing that sets Carlos apart is his level of commitment towards building Rueda community in Vancouver. He often goes beyond the class time to repeat past lessons, record them, and make sure I have extra resources to review. I’ve never felt rushed in class, and it's clear that he genuinely cares about each student's progress. The energy in the room is always high, and it’s motivating to see how much passion he has for his students’ growth. His enthusiasm is contagious and makes every class feel exciting, no matter how challenging the steps might be. If you’re looking for a teacher who’s knowledgeable, dedicated, and truly cares about your progress, I highly recommend taking lessons from him!

An amazing dance school in so many ways. A great facility which was clean, and had a good dance floor. The owner/teacher Patrick was such a welcoming person, who gave great classes. I hope I can come back for more classes in my short stay in Vancouver. Receptionist (Madame L) knew how to serve the clients with respect and yet friendly enough to make me feel welcome in a completely new environment. Their Friday night social was amazing too. A lot of people smiling, which is a great sign.

I recommend this dance studio to everyone I know! The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming, and the instructors are just amazing! The Sunday rueda de casino classes with Juan Carlos have become my favorite hobby and the absolute highlight of my week. I’ve really enjoyed learning rueda de casino, and Juan Carlos’ high-energy, fun teaching style makes it easy to get started and motivates you to keep improving. With two levels available for rueda, it’s easy to start as a beginner and then challenge yourself as you go. What I love most about DVS is the community spirit—everyone is encouraging, and it feels like being part of a fun, dance-loving family. If you want to experience salsa in a lively, community-focused environment with great teachers, this is definitely the place to be!
