Do yourself a favor and if your dog needs their ears to be cleaned from an infection, don't take them here. We brought our dog for an ear infection, and they told us we had to bring him back a separate time, leave him there for a full day and then they would clean out his ears. Why on earth would they book his appointment for an ear infection just to tell us that? The appointment was a complete waste of time. Not only did they not treat his ear infection, they wanted us to spend a whole day making another appointment and then leaving him there. Our dog is extremely nervous, and they wanted us to leave him with strangers for a full day who would then clean his ears, rather than just cleaning them in our original appointment. Needless to say, we will not be back.

poor communication. They don’t pickup or return calls. Staff does their best but things are poorly run. Inconsistent billing and organization. Plus, they are unforgiving and don’t even allow you to be a minute late without canceling your appointment and charging you for it. There are better affordable options in the area to take your pet.

My mom’s dog has a tumor on his neck so I made an appt for her. I got here 7 mins after the scheduled appointment. The front desk said they would need to reschedule and my appt fee of $60 would be forfeited. They also told me to open the email and read it carefully, as there’s no grace period mentioned. If you get here at 10:01 for your 10 o’clock appt, you are late and will lose your deposit. It never occurred to me SPCA would be money grabbing like other for profit business. Please go somewhere else!!!

When my service dog Gally started limping this spring, I assumed it was a sprain. Turned out to be a cracked metacarpal and we had weeks of splinting, rest, and a very impatient BorderPap ahead. We have had a rough financial stretch, and I was terrified we’d have to choose between her care and essentials. (We would’ve chosen her.) The team at 🏥 East Bay SPCA Theodore B. Travers Vet Clinic in Oakland didn’t make us choose. They were kind, considerate, incredibly competent, and unbelievably communicative from day one. They worked with us on grant funding, explained every step clearly, and treated Gally with as much tenderness as skill💛. The whole place is spotless, well-organized, and clearly run by people who care deeply. 🩺 Veterinary care can feel like an overwhelming punch (we've lost two young dogs since 2022 to sudden onset traumatic illness so believe me, we KNOW) but this felt like true community. If you’re in the East Bay and need a vet clinic that treats you like a human and your pet like family, go here. As long as this review is, it STILL doesn't adequately reflect how grateful we are. 🙏 I can't wait till we're back on our feet and we can join the donor rolls! PS: The Pet Food Pantry is another ENORMOUS community good! I truly am blown away by the myriad ways this facility cares for its neighbors!! We were super excited to bring some of our old @Barkbox Toys to share with Pantry families! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Five stars. 🐾 Two paws and 👍👍 thumbs WAY up. We brought our little chihuahua here to get dental cleaning and extractions about a month ago and the vet and staff here were excellent. They were kind, gentle, understanding, and the procedure went very smoothly. She came back home with extremely well packaged and portioned medication. Her recovery at home was very quick and she is a very happy girl. Thank you so much for taking care of our Beauty!
