The staff were welcoming, courteous and professional. The food was great, pur party all ordered various steaks and they were all cooked perfect, I was actually impressed with my wife's porterhouse ordered medium. It was beautiful. I ordered the waygu burger, it was huge. The flavor was spot on. The fries stayed crispy as well, that was a plus. Our waiter was very professional but still had a genuine personality. I highly recommend this establishment.
Recently went on a little weekend getaway with the wife to Jersey City, New Jersey (Newport). We were looking up possible places to try to add to our steakhouse collection of visits. Happened upon this little interesting spot while surfing the internet for nearby spots. First thing to note is that the restaurant is inside an old brownstone house. There is a nice looking bar. The main restaurant seating area is upstairs (a flight of stairs). The place is straight business with no frills or buttons or whistles. Our server Lenny was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food is reasonably priced as well. We tried a good set of stuff here. Definitely would recommend their mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, the Tomahawk for 2 and the blood orange margarita. If looking for a reasonably priced steakhouse that's not Manhattan flair, try this place out.
Let me preface by saying I came here feeling over stimulated, stressed, and exhausted and left feeling warm, held, and taken care of from the atmosphere, service, and food overall. The applewood smoked bacon and mashed potatoes were a standout — thick cut juicy bacon with aromatic smoky flavor, creamy garlicky potatoes…MmMmm That said, I really want to come back, but several things I think could use improvement: One, I ordered the medium ribeye and it came out hard on the outside and tough on the inside. I was craving steak so much that it still left me satisfied, but I would think twice of ordering this unless it improves the texture. Two, the asparagus gratin seemed like it was just steamed asparagus and chewy Parmesan cheese. It needs some melted cheese texture and a sprinkle of Parmesan dusting at the top. If these can be improved I wouldn’t hesitate coming back.
Edwards Steakhouse in Jersey City is seriously a gem! From the moment you walk in, you get this cool, old-school vibe that just feels right. We started with some really good appetizers and ended with a delicious dessert, but the real stars of the show were the steaks and entrees – absolutely incredible! Cooked to perfection. They've also got some great cocktails and a decent wine selection to round out the experience. Definitely a spot to check out if you're looking for a classic steakhouse experience.
The place is an old house, beautiful and historical, a local go-to spot. It's nice to have a place with a sense of history around. This was our second time visiting the place, and we sampled all the steaks they could offer, ribeye, sirloin and porterhouse. The temperature was perfect for what we ordered, medium rare. The steaks in general don't have the dry age aroma as they advertised as 28-day ageing. The meat quality was pretty bad, tough to chew, and full of gristle. Hope they will improve because we like the ambience here.
