Jacquelyn is truly one of a kind! Though we weren't close, I have known her for a number of years and knew that the moment my husband and I got engaged and secured a date and venue, she was the first person I would call to lock her in. I loved seeing her work on social media and I was not disappointed. Our first trial went really well but the result wasn't quite what I had expected and reached out to her later that day with photos, questions and concerns. As a response she asked some clarifying questions about how the makeup felt and the texture of it and got a second trial booked right away at no extra fee. She put in a ton of extra effort to ensure I was happy and satisfied with her work. The best way I can explain it, is that we were learning together. I learned more about makeup and how to explain what I wanted and she learned more about my skin and its reactions to different components in the makeup. The second round went perfectly!! She made me feel so beautiful before, during and after application. She ensured I was comfortable and walked me through every step of the process. She is this positive beautiful force that makes you just want to be her when you grow up. She applied makeup for multiple people during the morning of the wedding and she was quick to adjust and adapt as things needed to change and people needed to be swapped in. I felt truly beautiful in the makeup, it ended up being an elevated version of me but still very me, which was really important. I can't recommend First Looks LLC enough for your next event!

Jacquelyn is one of my absolute favorite people!! She made me feel gorgeous during my makeup trial at her house and at my at-home wedding, and I didn't have to do anything except show up and have a great time, and provide a couple of inspiration photos. Plus, she was flexible day of and added one additional person to the rotation, and made every single one of my family members feel beautiful and pampered, too. I cannot recommend her enough!! In fact, I've already booked her again for another event next year 😄

Jacquelyn is one of the premier makeup artists in the Twin Cities - full stop. Her skill is evident well before you sit in her chair, and the experience once you are under her brush only serves to reinforce what you already gleaned from reviews, her portfolio and conversations and emails with her. Her passion for what she does is a force unto itself, one that injects energy into both her art and, at long last, your wedding day. I might offer, though, that the true pièce de résistance of working with Jacquelyn is her aura: Though vibey, though always effervescent and energetic, her aura is at its core warm and supportive. During our first conversation, we discussed how her business model draws upon her makeup artistry and her background in counseling and education, likening her services to accompanying celebrants through metamorphoses. In that spirit, Jacquelyn IS the cocoon that offers celebrants support as they go through two metamorphic processes on their wedding days: First, a temporary transformation through her makeup application for the day and, second, a more indelible one as they take their vows. As a bride facing so many societally imposed expectations, so many emotionally charged moments leading up to and on my wedding day, that cocoon - Jacquelyn - was a sanctuary of emotional support, safety and connection during a time which, for me at least, felt like it was lacking all three. I'll wrap this love note up. Jacquelyn was amazing at my trial, taking my inspiration photos and doing exactly what we thought I wanted. She was patient in the days after as I sent her jumbled messages, trying to express changes that would get us closer to what I had in mind. She did my rehearsal dinner makeup and used it as a wedding preview -- flawless execution. And as for my wedding day makeup... I felt like a goddess. Working with Jacquelyn, I not only felt the most beautiful I have EVER felt in my life, but I felt seen, heard and supported. It was an honor and a pleasure to have First Looks by my side on such a significant day. I honestly would not have wanted anyone else there.

Jacqueline was easily one of our favorite vendors that we hired for our big day! She’s incredibly talented plus her upbeat personality makes hiring her a win-win. Jacqueline’s style can range from natural to glam so I asked her for a neutral look. As someone who normally just wears a tinted sunscreen and concealer - a full face of make up seemed so scary to me. Jacqueline walked me through every step of what she was doing. She’s a consent queen and like to keep her celebrants informed of what’s she’s doing or what to expect. When I first looked in the mirror - I’m not going to lie - I was overwhelmed. It seemed like so much make up compared to what I wear everyday but let me tell you - it was absolutely stunning in photos and I have no regrets! Jacqueline was also receptive to tweaks and let me have my moment of “oh my god this is too much”. I was also quite picky about my lip color so she mixed a custom lip for me! The day off - we inevitably got off schedule with other vendors and tension was high but J kept her cool, kept it light, and honestly made the getting ready experience. All of our make up lasted and again - photographed amazing! If Jacqueline is available - I would without a doubt recommend hiring her. She was a fantastic investment and so professional!

Jacquelyn was one of my favorite vendors on wedding day. Her unique business model is what instantly drew me to her. She is so much more than a makeup artist! She provides quality, personalized makeup applications, but also serves as an advocate for you pre-wedding, while getting ready, and right before one of the most important commitments of your life. She listens to your wishes and alters the application if needed until you feel comfortable and confident. My entire wedding party felt beautiful, but also like their true selves. I loved that she thoroughly explained every step of the process so you knew what was coming. I couldn’t more highly recommend Jacquelyn and First Looks. She is genuine, creative, passionate, and incredibly fun to be around. Without a doubt, she will brighten your getting ready experience!
