Came for our wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. The service is outstanding. If you are lucky enough to be served by Abe, you're in for a great night! The steak was cooked to perfection and barely required a knife. The smoky old fashioned was fantastic. Definitely going back!
Expectations associated with a high-end $300+ meal versus the actual experience. My main expectation for a high-cost steakhouse includes: Great Atmosphere Great Service A uniquely well-prepared steak (not duplicatable at home). Fleming's met the expectation for a great location and atmosphere (across from the convention center in the Gaslamp area), but the service and my NY steak preparation were disappointing. Steak Quality and Preparation (16 oz NY Steak): The steak lacked grilling marks (which I look for as essential on a steak). The requested "pink in the middle" (medium) came out "pink all over" and was too soft and chewy, requiring it to be sent back for additional cooking. The meat itself was "comparable" to steaks purchased at COSTCO. Service and Dining Experience: The service was mediocre, it's true the place was full when we arrived at 0730pm There were no standard side dishes included; they had to be ordered extra, which I learned too late. Basic condiments (salt and pepper) were not on the table and had to be requested. Bread basket was served once and never refilled. Dessert: The brownie with vanilla ice cream portion was delicious but too small for the four people sharing it. My Verdict: The overall experience was "OK" and I don't feel the desire to repeat the experience. I know I am a very demanding client. In contrast, to my experience, the rest of my party "loved their dishes" (which included bone-in rib eyes, filet mignons, and lobster) and did not share the same criticism about the service.
My husband and I came here to celebrate our birthdays and 6 year anniversary (early) because I am leaving for work for 4 months. 12/10 recommend! Service: Rafi K is the example that should be set for all service workers. I’m very against tipping culture but his service was so excellent I didn’t bat an eye at tipping because he was flawless, accommodating, came with recommendations for food, drinks etc. He made this experience even better for us. This is not something we do a lot so we greatly appreciate the time and convenience he gave to us. Food: Best steak house we have been too. When we were eating we couldn’t stop talking about how it was better than El Gaucho and Ruth&Chris and all the others we have been too. We had the Calamari which was prepared in a way we never had and it was well worth it. Then we had the dry aged ribeye with the flemming potatoes. Portion size and the flavor for the price was well worth it unlike other steak houses where often we feel like we could have done better at home. Atmosphere: Lighting was perfect, not to bright yet not to dark. Often times we feel like a steak house is either one or the other. The volume from the staff and patrons was also very on point. Every staff member that assisted us throughout our meal were pleasant, respectful and accommodating. By far our favorite steak house and we appreciate this moment you were able to help us share before being apart for what will feel like an eternity. Also we were so full we couldn’t do desert and they brought out a cute box with truffles and candles on it ❤️
ASK FOR QUAN! When we made it to our 9pm reservation (at 905), we were seated by 909pm. We weren't seen to until 917pm. When quan walked over and saw that we weren't seen to yet, he made it his top priority to make up for the minor delay. He literally saved the day! All of his recommendations were tip notch! He is very knowledgeable, respectful, delightful, kind and considerate!. The short rib was to die for! The lava cake was amazing! The sea bass was very unique and the flavor profile went very well!. The asparagus could have been seasoned better but still delicious. The Brussel sprouts were really good! Eat the more crispy ones first!. Will visit again! Thanks for a great time. Made our 3yr anniversary much worth
Fleming’s in the heart of downtown San Diego delivered an absolutely wonderful dining experience. The steaks were cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Every bite was spot-on and exactly what you’d expect from a high-end steakhouse. The side dishes complemented the meal beautifully, adding richness and variety without overshadowing the main course. From the moment we were seated, the service was impeccable—attentive, professional, and friendly. The fresh bread and carefully chosen wine selection paired perfectly with the meal, making the whole evening feel extra special. We finished with the crème brûlée, which was outstanding—creamy, smooth, and topped with that perfect caramelized crunch. The atmosphere was elegant yet welcoming, and being right in the middle of San Diego’s downtown made the location even more appealing. Fleming’s truly stands out not only for its excellent food but also for creating a complete dining experience where every detail is thoughtfully taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an elevated night out.
