The lanes are always alive with activity, and it’s common to see bowling leagues in action, adding to the energy and sense of community. There’s something especially satisfying about the constant, rhythmic crash of pins echoing through the alley—it really gives the place its character. What truly makes Fort Shafter Bowling Alley stand out, though, is the staff. They’re consistently friendly, approachable, and genuinely happy to chat, whether you’re a regular or just stopping by. Their warmth makes the atmosphere feel relaxed and familiar, turning a simple bowling outing into an enjoyable experience worth coming back for.
Flew in from Kauai trying to get a anniversary gift for my wife. We dont have pro shops on kauai anymore, so flying in to oahu is normal. Waited all weekend to call to find out they did indeed have the ball she wanted, so i drove all the way from wahiawa to FT Shafter and waited 30 minutes patiently for him to finish drilling other balls, all to be refused service because my wife wasn't present(because it was a gift) and she wanted normal house ball drilling. Uncle claimed "this is a ProShop and this isnt professional request". Like I understand that this is a "Pro Shop", but all I wanted was to get this beginner bowling gift for my wife for a special occasion. It wasn't an over the top request just a beginner ball drilled with house ball holes. No bowler starts out and is immediately a Pro Level Bowler and everyone's got to start somewhere. I understand the request was odd but the way it was thrown in my face because it wasn't "professional enough" really ticked me off. Definitely more because there was litterally no Aloha or even basic Job Professionalism. Long story short went to 5TZs and John didnt even blink when I asked him the same request. Definitely dont recommend FT Shafter go see John at 5TZs at leeward Bowling Alley. He will take care of you with a heart full of Aloha spirit.
By far one of the best bowling alleys on Oahu for price and the lane maintenance. Lanes are well oiled and in good condition. There is a pro shop inside where you can get all your bowling supplies and even custom drilled balls. Food is a good option and isn’t expensive for the whole family. Cosmic bowling nights are done here and it’s a blast!
Cheap and fun. This military bowling alley is typical for many posts, but has fantastic food at a great price. I just wish they were open or we could bowl earlier on Saturday because we can never bowl for "fun" because all of the leagues take all the lanes every day. 😔
El personal es súper amable, la pro shop es muy conocedora y servicial y está a buen precio! Este es mi centro de bolos militar de referencia en esta zona. ¡Hay cuatro cervezas de barril y muchas cervezas embotelladas y una gran selección de comida en el snack bar!
