Grimaldi’s Pizzeria was a decent experience overall, but not quite what I expected. The location was surprisingly hard to find due to the lack of clear signage, which made getting there a little frustrating. The restaurant itself looks really nice inside, but the food didn’t quite match the price point. Paying around $100 for two pizzas felt pretty expensive for what was, at best, half-decent food. That said, our server Alex was very pleasant and made the experience better. He was friendly, attentive, and did a great job throughout the meal. I’m not sure I’d come back given the price and food quality, but the service was solid and the atmosphere was nice.
Coming from Illinois, I’ve had a lot of great pizzas of different styles. I didn’t have high expectations when trying pizza on the strip. I’ve watched some YouTube and TikTok videos that said I’ll have to go off the strip to find some great pizza joints. This one was convenient because they close late. They have a huge dining room so finding a table is not a problem. I ordered the prosciutto arugula pizza for 12”. All of the toppings were fine. The crust was too chewy for me. I prefer pizza crusts that are crispy and little chew. Price was okay since it’s on the strip. Our server was attentive and friendly. It didn’t take too long to receive our pizza. Overall, it’s a 3.5 for me since I’ve had pizza in NYC.
Having tried Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge, NY and Grimaldi's in the Shops at Il Pilazzo, I can say Grimaldi's Pizzeria the Shops at the Il Pilazzo hotel a is a great New York Pizzeria in Las Vegas, NV. From an atmoshere perspective I like the fact the kitchen where the pizzas are made and the brick oven where they are cooked are visible from the dinning hall. Around the restaurant are photos of New York, the Brooklym Bridge, and other things which give the restaurant a great New York feel. If you have ever had it, New York pizza is thin crust, foldable, and should have great flavor. The sauce, cheese, toppings, and pizza were all delicious, well proportioned, and enjoyable. With each pizza made to order, you are ensured to get a fresh, delicious pizza, every time. My family eats there several times a week if we are visiting Las Vegas, NV and I have to say, I am excited to go back! An important note on desserts: While I have pictures of pizza in my reviews I can say, the Cannoli and Tiramisu at Grimaldi's are definitely worth a try as well. In fact, I order one conolo [Cannoli singular] as an appetizer and another one after the meal. The canolo had a crispy shell, it was sweet, the flavor of the chocolate chips with the cheese filling were balanced, it was a fantastic New York dessert in Las Vegas, NV. The tiramisu was soft, the tones of sugar, coffee, and chcolate were balanced, and incredible. I will be ordering another one next time I am there.
Pizza is pretty good. I thought the crust could have been a little crispier. I’m pretty sure it was at Grimaldi in NY. Though this Vegas one is better than the one in Austin TX. The salad was a large portion; way bigger than I expected. Service was good. The guy was very attentive with refills and checking in on us. It’s did take them awhile to take our order though. I didn’t think it liked that busy. I like the decor inside. Standard Grimaldi vibe. But it is somewhat inconveniently far away from where you generally may be in the strip. Of course unless you are staying in one of the casinos in this area.
Despite what other reviewers say, as a New Yorker, I can say that this pizza is actually pretty good. Yes, the tomato sauce on the pizza is a little bit watery, but it has great flavor, and the cheese holds it together. I came here multiple times in one week because I enjoyed the quality for the price. I think my favorite pizza is just the traditional with mozzarella and tomato sauce. It’s got a nice, crispy crust, and it folds exactly like a New York slice should. The only reason that I’m giving it three stars is because service is not good. My friends and I all ordered individual pizzas, however, the consistency on when they come out is really bad. The first pizza came out, then the second one came out 10 minutes later, and then the third pizza came out another 20 minutes after. It doesn’t really make sense for us to each order individual pizzas but having them come out at different times over a 30 minute period. Obviously each person ate their pizza as it came out so that I wouldn’t get cold. The restaurant was also not busy at all. Maybe seven or eight people in total at the time we were eating. I definitely recommend the spot if you’re looking for a good New York style pizza, but if you come in a large group, expect to not receive your food anywhere close to the same time.
