One of the best Garden centers in the area. The prices are very reasonable the staff are professional & have great product knowledge. The staff is willing to assist with any of the customer needs.
I am a fan of the Guilford location and now in love with the new Lawndale location!!! I had no idea how huge it was and the variety of plants offered over, what looks like, acres! They offer classes on the weekend, teach YOGA in the GREENHOUSE (!!), plus staff went out of their way to teach me how to resolve an infestation issue in my own garden that had me concerned. It stays rather busy, yet every staff person I encountered was energetic and attentive, all with positive attitudes…not always the case at most retail places, as we know. The sheer volume of unique plants, the variety, along with a choice of sizes, was helpful. Plant health and the unique variety of plants along with pricing makes this my go to as a garden pro. I’m sending all of my friends and clients to Guilford Garden from now on and love the new Lawndale facility. For me, this is the go to plant resource Greensboro needs, and serves well, for all gardeners, newbies to pro. PS- also liked how they gave out butterfly stickers to the children at the register, were silly with them. Truly a nice experience. Thanks Guilford Garden Center. I’ll be back soon.
I'm giving a 2 to reflect one positive experience and one terrible one where the plant quality and customer service nosedived but also for the contant wondering how much most of the plants cost because the price labels have faded (the labels are also illegible at the Milner location). Previously, the plants have been healthy and with a good selection. I don't want to be too harsh but this new location is slipping already. I really want this location to thrive since the small Milner location is a tripping hazard once you get to back where most of the plant are. When we came to the Lawndale location there was one employee outside helping customers then she went inside. It was slow so the whole time we were outside looking at plants we only saw a couple of other customers. No one came to offer help and we were there just over a half hour. When we finally went inside to where the registers are we could see that all of the workers were having a kiki, not helping customers just standing around talking to one another. Had anyone talked to us or acknowledged us we might have let them know a whole section of their shrub selection is fully infested. They were scentless bugs but who wants to pay $42.99 (one if the few with a legible price) for a plant where every bloom is covered in pests? Where you were ignored as well as some of the watering needs of many of the plants you won't buy with no price tags? Come here if you have money to burn on thirsty spotted plants and prefer solitude I guess. Even online they don't have their actual plants and products listed anymore. Before you could look up goldenrod or aster or sweetspire and see which varieties they had and how to plant and care for it and if other cultivars were available, etc. Now the website just says very generic info saying they have shrubs and trees or perennial and annual plants. No longer a good experience no matter how I visit them..
Had the best experience. Sam M was so kind & knowledgeable. She answered all our questions and spent so much time explaining plant needs for success. We will be back!
I have been shopping at Guilford Garden Center for years and was skeptical when I heard about their new location on Lawndale. But it is amazing! Still the same high quality and beautiful plants in a much larger spread out setting. The help and expertise is also wonderful (shout out to Megan!).
