Thanks to Julie and the team at Handmade Canberra for an event that has such a balanced curation of fresh, innovative, designs and techniques, showcased alongside traditional, time-honoured, handmade creative arts. As designers we love innovation, and the fact that Handmade is always willing to try new initiatives shows a likeminded spirit. The ‘Low sensory’ shopping hour, the mentoring programs for new designers and emerging artists immediately come to mind. It's such a warm, community vibe, with an emphasis on sustainability, authenticity and inclusivity. And also a wonderfull opportunity for us makers to have a chat and get to know our customers.
I’m an avid market-goer in Canberra, and my first visit to the handmade market last week blew me away! I’ve never seen so much talent and creativity in one place. Definitely recommend for those who love finding local artists and creatives and supporting small businesses. You can find so many things at this place and all the stallholders were so friendly and sweet.
I try to visit the Handmade Market every time they are on and every visit is a new experience. The carefully curated mix of designers and creatives not only showcases the amazing talent of Australian makers, but is a feast for your senses. Great food, amazing gifts and always something new to see. Highly recommend!
Burst of creativity and great energy! I went back the next day because I couldn’t get enough. An incredible variety of top-quality artisans — I found so many pieces with real soul: art, homewares, treats, gifts, all beautifully made. It far exceeded my expectations for little old Canberra. Every stall was run by welcoming, vibrant, genuinely talented people. Wonderfully organised and beautifully set out. Absolutely loved it!
I attended during the low sensory hour on Sunday morning and it was absolutely brilliant. Such a wonderful inclusive initiative that I've never seen any other market do before. The stallholders were all extremely friendly without being overbearing which I find intimidating at markets. The huge range of talented creators was astonishing. There is truly something for everyone. Thank you so much for providing such an inclusive experience I will definitely be coming back every time they're on to support our local artists and small business owners. ❤️ I can't wait for the next one!
