Emily is amazing!! I got my first tattoo done on Tuesday and I'm so excited to have such a specific piece of Baltimore on me forever. HFBL has such a welcoming and supportive vibe that has me so excited to come back for more!!! I wanted to get a tattoo for a very long time, but I never seemed to have the time until this past week. I used AI to find the best tattoo shops in Hampden.off of Falls Road and Cold Spring Lane. Have Fun Be Lucky Tattoo popped up on my searches as one of the best shops to go to. I went to their website and sent them a picture of what I was looking for. I heard back from them very quickly. Kelso was very professional and answered all my questions for me. She said that Erik could do the work and he was available on Friday at 12 noon. It took about roughly 4 hours to do, but Erik and his colleague Joe entertained me and 2 other clients talking Sports and dogs most of the time which made it go by much faster. Erik was great and I highly recommend him to anyone who has a very detailed tattoo that needs to be done like I did. His price was very reasonable for the size of the tattoo that I got..My family and friends love my new tattoo and I could not be happier with it. Erik, thanks so much and I will be back again! You can count on it! Thank you to everyone at Have Fun Be Lucky Tattoo for making my experience very enjoyable.
First of all, I live in Silver Spring and choose to come to Have Fun Be Lucky because they’re a fantastic shop. The vibe is immaculate — super friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, and incredibly talented artists. I’ve been tattooed by Erik twice now, and he’s been everything you could hope for in an artist. He’s experienced, kind, patient, and genuinely collaborative when working with your design ideas. My first piece was a simple fine-line lettering tattoo, but my second project was much more complex and meaningful. I had an old tattoo on the left side of my chest that carried a lot of emotional weight. It was black, poorly done, and connected to someone who is no longer a part of my life. I spent almost a year looking for the right artist to cover it. I wanted something inspired by the video game Dragon Age — specifically the Dread Wolf, a six-eyed black wolf — and hoped it could cover the old work. Not only did Erik create a fantastic, original take on the character, but the shading and dimension he achieved are so flawless that you would never guess it's a cover-up. It’s easily the best tattoo I have. I’m already thinking about coming back to have him design a matching piece for the other side. I can’t fully express how much this tattoo — and Erik’s care and talent — mean to me. I am so proud of this piece, and so incredibly happy to have trusted it to him. (My first photo is the tattoo Erik did and the second photo is the one he covered up flawlessly.)
I’ve been getting tattooed by Justine for almost two years now. I’ve had 4 pieces from her and they are each better than the last. The most painless tattooing experience is always with her. I’m not a huge talker and she gets that but she also keeps me distracted in the best way. She’s a great artist and her designs are getting cuter and cuter by the years. Highly recommend justine to every and anyone!
Justine at HFBL is AWESOME. The shop is great, super cool decorations and art, staff is super cool and were very flexible with short notice appointments. Very comfortable getting work done here. Sanitation and attention to detail was 10/10, and Justine was happy to work with me with any input or changes. Highly highly highly recommend this shop and Justine especially.
