Expensive and racial profiling I was there with my partner just browsing as I was going to drop off my jacket to another consignment store near by. I was initially greeted . We had split up since he wanted to check out , some of the items the store is quiet small and it is hard to get around , if you're lugging around bags etc. I noticed this young lady was watching me, to her defense my Ikea bag contained an old winter jacket. As I was walking around my bag was knocked something over and I cleaned it up right away. However, she was constantly hovering and watching me. To be honest I was annoyed, one because I didn't want to go in. Secondly, it's not my style per say it's more suited for younger generations. I was born in the early 90s and I will say it's very over priced. I am a woman of color (Black) & My boyfriend is of Asian descent Chinese. I wouldn't expect him to understand, but to have someone watch me like I was trying to steal is pathetic. Learn proper customer service, and if you see a customer struggling with a large bag. Simply ,ask if they wouldn't mind having it at the front of the store to be held. I went back into the store and I told the young lady off, and said if you're going to racially profile someone do it better and don't watch me.. simply here to browse with my boyfriend and not to be harassed. And I also said I'm not going to return back to the store within reason.
Pricing is INSANE. In what world would this shirt cost $70? I have no idea who would buy something that costs this much. Many items also have stains or holes and are still priced this high! There was also a pair of cowboy boots that were stained and dirty. $80! Not even real leather. The markup for these items is insulting and ruins vintage shopping/defeats the purpose. I would recommend going to any other smaller vintage shop if you want to find cute things for realistic prices. There are many in the city where items are curated by locals within Calgary as opposed to just buying everything in the USA and upselling like crazy.
Sure, they have some actual vintage pieces buried in there, but most of their stock is recent clothing that's been deliberately distressed to look old, then marked up to vintage prices. Found a severely beaten Ralph Lauren belt priced at $70, checked the date, 2018. Unless this belt survived Ukrainian rubble, it's clearly a Value Village find that they took sandpaper to and marked up 3500%. A Britney Spears shirt that looked like it survived an acid attack? Also 2020. It's insulting to anyone with half a brain. The staff hover over you constantly and won't let you browse in peace for 10 seconds. I was dressed better than their employees, so it's clearly not about theft prevention (unless they're on the lookout for thieves of means), management has obviously mandated this annoying approach that treats every customer like a potential criminal.
I was there today to look for boots for stampede and the ladies that worked there were so lovely and friendly. I had heard about this vintage store from IG and wanted to check them out and glad I did! There was quite a selection of stuff that were fairly priced compared to some vintage thrifts that I’ve come across elsewhere. The store had a very inviting atmosphere. 100% would shop there again. Had a pleasure shopping there! And again, the staff were very nice and helpful!
Very friendly staff and a surprisingly large and well-maintained store with an impressive selection of jackets but mostly mediocre t-shirt designs, many of which you could easily find at a Value Village or Goodwill. The prices felt outrageous for most items, especially on some of those tees - then again, most if not all of these vintage secondhand stores seem to be on that level.
