Jason and his son did a fabulous job snaking a wire through my wall to hardwire a fireplace gas log set. They were timely and efficient. I highly recommend them and will definitely use in the future. Overall, they communicated well and answered my questions. Thanks guys for a great job. anne r.
I can’t recommend Hufnagel Electric highly enough! From the moment I reached out, they were professional, responsive, and incredibly knowledgeable. They arrived on time explaining everything clearly and completed the work efficiently. It was great attention to detail. The quality of their work was top-notch, and they even went above and beyond to ensure everything was safe and up to code it’s rare to find someone so reliable and trustworthy. I’ll definitely be calling them again for future projects. Thank you for your exceptional service Jason!!
I hired him to rewire for and install two outdoor wall sconces around my front door. He originally quoted me $775 to $830 depending on the work required for the rewiring. While he was there, I asked him if he could change out a nonfunctional exterior outlet and install wiring to support a VIDEO doorbell as we had never actually had any doorbell. There was old doorbell wiring there and a transformer already. He quoted me $200 to rewire for a circuit that would support a video doorbell. He told me my doorbell transformer was fine and that he just needed to run new wiring because the old wiring was no longer any good. He had already cut the holes from the basement up through to the front door for the other wiring. When he left, I asked him if it was safe to leave the wiring exposed to the elements and he told me it was fine, “it’s only 12 V“. The total cost was $1145. Fast-forward two months and our front door contractor offered to install the door bell. He question the voltage prior to installing it because he said there wasn’t any spark when the two bare wires touched together. My video doorbell app said it detected AC power so I thought we were fine. Unfortunately, the doorbell kept switching back-and-forth from AC power to battery. I called the manufacturer of the doorbell and they told me that it would only do that if it wasn’t getting consistent AC power. It also came to my attention that the average minimum voltage to power a video doorbell is 16V. Realizing that Hufnagel installed only a 12V circuit, knowing the purpose was for a video doorbell, perplexed me. I called Jason and he immediately was rude and defensive saying that because somebody else installed the door bell he wasn’t liable for whether it worked or not. He told me that “as a courtesy“ he would come out on a warranty call for the continuity of the line ONLY. When I asked him about the voltage, he said that he would have to charge me a $90 service call to check the transformer and if it needed to be replaced, it would be another $135. When I tried to ask him why I would have to pay another service fee, he was very rude to me telling me “let me finish talking” and told me that I was asking him to do free work. Every time I tried to say something, he would just interrupt me. I tried to ask him why he would leave me with just a 12V circuit when most video doorbells require 16V, and can go all the way up to 24V, he argued whether it was really only 12V. When I said that’s what he told me when he left and that’s what’s on the receipt, he argued again. Then he told me he was offended, that I was trying to tell him how to do his business and that he would no longer do any work for me. He said he would still come out and check the continuity of the line, but that was it, and that he would NOT replace the transformer or do any work for me in the future. My husband decided to check the voltage of the line and transformer with a multimeter only to find out that it was ONLY 10V, both at the transformer and at the video doorbell. We checked it multiple times over multiple days and always came up with the same voltage in both places. 10V no more. I called Jason back again and told him there was no need for him to come over because we had already checked the voltage. I told him that I was upset that I had paid him $200 to run a circuit to support a video doorbell when in reality the voltage was less than what was stated on my receipt and far less than what is required. He told me the charge was because he had to drill holes from the basement up to run that line. I said he had already done that to run the other wires for the lights sconces, and he tried to tell me that wasn’t true. Not only did I pay $200 to run a simple wire, but I didn’t even get what I thought I was paying for. Not only does he not stand behind his work, but Jason could use a lesson in customer first strategy. Every interaction I have had with him he has been arrogant, condescending and patronizing. I can tell you that I will NEVER hire him do work for me again.
Hufnagel just installed our new hallway pendant in our townhouse. This area has 18ft ceilings and we were very nervous to try and attempt this ourselves. The guys completed the install in a little over an hour and did a fantastic job! I would recommend them to anyone with complex lighting installation needs!
