Great museum. Little bit of everything, a good focus on Native American art and artists. Both traditional and modern.
Nice exhibits, free admission with one ticketed. Cafe had great options: burgers, soup, drinks. Outdoor paths with art and a good amount of women artists represented.
Building is gorgeous and the newer addition is stunning. Everything is so well kept and immaculate. Such an interesting story of the man and woman that started it and I was impressed with the foundations supporting it and the artwork. Free admission supported by The Holland Foundation-so generous!
The Joslyn is a great art museum. I saw a Thomas Heart Benton, a Monet, and a Degas. I can't help but compare it to the Nelson-Atkins, even though it is smaller with a smaller collection. Just like the Nelson, it is a few buildings with different styles attached to each other. The buildings are just as beautiful as the art they house. It's a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. I really appreciated that many of the signage was in English and Spanish. The grounds are beautiful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this museum. In addition to offering stunning architecture, the art itself is eclectic and on par with some of the museums we have explored in Europe. There is also an amazing room downstairs for kids to express their creativity. Truly, this museum offers something for all ages.
