A Joyful Rhythm-Filled Day at The Heights Kids' Day of Music! Still riding the high from an unforgettable performance with the Joy of Djembe Drumming crew at The Heights Kids' Day of Music — a festival rooted in heart, rhythm, and Houston soul. It was an absolute honor to showcase the powerful traditions of West African drumming, bringing culture, history, and energy to life through rhythm. Seeing young hearts light up as they connected with the beat — clapping, dancing, and learning — reminded me of why we do this. This event wasn't just another gig… it was an iconic moment in an iconic Houston space, and I'm beyond grateful to have been part of a celebration that keeps music and the arts alive in our communities. Much love to the organizers, families, and every little rhythm maker who joined us. Enjoyed the Ribbon Cutting this afternoon with Houston Parks Board.
This might just be because if shutdowns because of Covid-19 but the park was not in good shape: the grass was high and hadn’t been cut very recently and the pool was closed but visibly hadn’t been cleaned either.
