Food 8/10 Service 10/10 Waiting time 1/10 2h wait for a okay ramen is beyond absurd. Ramen is really good but would never go back to that wait line. I would recommend if you can get there before opening. Otherwise there are plenty of better options
I’ve heard about this place for a while and finally had the unexpected opportunity on Christmas Eve. A friend and I decided to meet at Japantown for dinner. We walked around and I remembered this place. We decided to eat here. We didn’t even have to wait 5 mins and we were called to our table! Our waitress was SO nice! She was above & beyond! Gave us recommendations and answered our questions; and staff was so attentive! I ordered the vegan creamy broth ramen. It was good; however, I liked Hinodeya’s better as theirs was more creamy and I liked the taste better. Marufuku’s was still good though. My friend had the Hankata Tonkatsu DX (The DX just means it has extra toppings). Apparently, this is one of the popular dishes. He said it was really good. We both finished our ramen so highly recommend. We ordered the chicken Karaage as well. I have to say this was SO good!!! For those wondering, I know I ordered the vegan ramen but it’s because I don’t eat that much meat (obviously not 100% vegan or vegetarian). Street parking can be tough but you if you’re lucky, you can find free residential parking or metered parking. Otherwise, there is an underground paid parking garage. If you take public transportation, the 38-Geary or 22-Fillmore (you’ll have to walk a few blocks, not bad as there’s plenty of shops & restaurants along the way). I highly recommend this place!
They’ve expanded the restaurant and took over the space next door. Basically there’s no waiting like it used to be. We were there around 1:30 pm on a Monday and was immediately seated (for two)! No waiting at all. Service was friendly and very very quick! Probably about 4-5 minutes after our order we got our food which was deceptively served in small bowls. But there was a lot of food and noodles. The broth was sublime as expected, the noodles perfectly al dente (small thin) with really tender pieces of pork. It was delicious and service was excellent but it was sooo noisy inside? It was hard to talk but for this incredible ramen, it’s worth it!!
Marufuku Ramen SF absolutely delivers! The tonkotsu broth is rich and silky, the noodles have that perfect bite, and the chashu melts in your mouth. Even when the place is busy, the staff is friendly and efficient, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. The karaage chicken is a must‑order side, and portions are generous enough to leave you satisfied but wanting to come back. Easily one of the better ramen spots in San Francisco!
Upscale, very busy ramen spot with classic options and inventive specialities, boasting handmade fare. I prefer the thicker egg noddles served with the spicy (ground) chicken ramen compared to the thinner noodles in the standard chicken (breast) ramen. The broth is rich and creamy. The kid's plate comes with noodles, fries, veggies and karage. They offer Sapporro on tap and Asahi in bottles, and also have fun Japanese inspired lemonades like the Sakura lemonade.
