director of the therapy department was extremely inconsiderate over the phone. I took my kids to the splash pad this morning, and there was a group of therapy kids there. I’m all for that, considering my son has special needs, the way that things were handled in a not so good situation was poor. it’s 90' outside, one of the therapy kids kept shutting the water off by pushing the water button. at one point the water was off for 15-20 minutes. when any kid tried to turn it back on, the kid who turned it on would slap or spit on them, including me myself. it got to a out where all 20 kids were upset and it was getting to the point not a single adult there who was facilitating could control the child. water turns on and after that, the same kid kept smacking other toddlers, hitting and kicking other kids and pulling an older kids hair. at this point i’ve already spoken with the director of the program once and he said it was a good time for them to pack up and head out. i called the director back bc it was getting out of hand and he wen to off on me saying me thinking they should leave because other kids are getting hurt was a bad idea. he raised his tone with me, while me and other moms are just worried for our kids safety. i personally think it would be a good idea to put some sort of sign up or something to let other parents know an entire group of special needs kids are there so we can at least be prepared and take better caution and not be blindsided. I’m not being pessimistic, but my son is in play therapy, and needed peer therapy with friends. He would do Play therapy with other kids that did therapy, not just random civilian children. A lot of parents would be taken back by their kid getting hurt by another kid, especially when an adult can’t even handle the child causing harm. lots of upset parents today, and a not very helpful director. no one brought any information. to my attention to help me understand why things went the way they went or explained to me how things work with the special needs group to maybe shed some light to the situation to make the upset parents a little more understanding. everyone is just mad, worked up, and overwhelmed. no try at a resolution.

Play for all abilities park next to the center. Brand new as of last fall. Definitely recommend bringing young toddlers and even older kids. Took my 18 month old and they had a great time.

McBeth is the only program I know in the country for special needs adults. Every day my son checks to make sure whether they're open. Dedicated, special, sharing staff.

Great! High praise for excellent staff and programs. My son has been in the GNAC program for many years. He would rather be there than go on vacation. He has so much fun. Special population. Best in Austin.
