Mermaid Catering did not show up I never imagined I would be writing a review like this, but I feel a responsibility to be honest so others can make informed decisions. My husband threw me a surprise birthday party — something I had never experienced in my life. Friends and family at the event kept pulling me aside to tell me how excited he had been while planning it, how proud he was of himself for pulling everything together. He stepped completely outside of his comfort zone to create a meaningful, once-in-a-lifetime moment for me. He coordinated everything: a bartender, a photographer, a photo booth, a live band, and a violinist who traveled over three hours to be there. We had relatives come in from out of town. Over 60 guests showed up. The event was real, intentional, and full of love. One of the main reasons my husband trusted Mermaid Catering is because I had personally used them at least three times before for both business and family events. They were the only vendor we had prior experience with, which made the trust even stronger. Mermaid Catering did not show up. There was no food, no water, and no lemonade — all of which they were supposed to provide. There was also no call or text to let us know there was an issue. When my husband realized they weren’t coming, he had to scramble in the middle of my party and place an emergency order from Olive Garden just so our guests could eat. Even then, we struggled with drinks because that was part of what Mermaid Catering was supposed to bring. I have known my husband for nine years. Our birthdays are two weeks apart. I know this man well, and I know how much care he put into this event. Every other vendor had the correct date and showed up without issue — including vendors who traveled hours to be there. It makes no sense that the caterer would somehow be the only vendor given a different date. After reviewing everything carefully, I do believe there was a date discrepancy on the proposal that my husband did not catch. Knowing how busy the holiday season was and how much activity was happening, it is easy to understand how an administrative error could occur. What is difficult to accept is that this mistake was handled as if it were entirely our fault. My husband paid the exact amount that was quoted, and he never disputed pricing or services. He simply trusted a vendor we had successfully used before. What hurt the most was the complete lack of accountability or empathy afterward. The event had already taken place. No services were provided. The date the business referenced had not yet occurred, and there was no indication that any costs had been incurred on their end. Claims of missed business opportunities were never substantiated, yet the full payment of over $2,300 was retained. The only “resolution” offered required us to agree to label the situation as a “cancellation” — something that never happened — in order to receive a credit, along with an additional fee of nearly $500 to use that credit and no flexibility in the menu. That did not feel like a good-faith solution. It felt like being asked to absorb the full impact of an internal mistake. Watching my husband — who put so much time, energy, and heart into creating a lifelong memory for his wife — feel embarrassed and dismissed afterward was devastating. This was not about trying to get something for free. It was about fairness, accountability, and being treated with basic respect as a returning customer. I’m sharing this so others can make informed decisions. Please confirm everything clearly and in writing, and pay close attention to how issues are handled after something goes wrong — because that’s when it truly matters.

Can’t express how thankful I am that Mermaid Catering stepped up for our squadron thanksgiving feast. I was on a tight timeline, and budget, and they were more than willing to meet us where we were at, delivering some incredible sides for the function that got rave reviews. We’ve found our go to for any and all catering needs for follow events. Every tray we had ordered was cleaned out within the hour. The service and quality provided was way more than I could have hoped for. Needless to say, highly recommended for anyone looking for stellar catering.

We have had the benefit of having Mermaid Catering take care of our last three annual events. The team they send is professional and attentive. They have worked around our untraditional floor plan to curate an elegant and inviting experience. The menu choices are broad enough to appeal to the wide tastes among our 80 attendees. We have already booked them for 2026!!!!

Such an easy website for online ordering. Then great subsequent communication after I placed my order. I could have served the food using the packaging she provided because they were presented so nicely. However, I used my own serving dishes. The food was delicious! I will be using them again for all of my future events.
