Popped a tire on a Jamaica Way pot hole and rolled (on my rim) into Mike's Auto shop. He is a trustworthy man & kept me updated the entire process. I was fortunate.
On Dec. 26th 2025 I went to Mike's to get my car inspected. I thought it was going to be a quick and painless process for my Toyota Prius 2013. I was floored when Mike told me I needed major repairs to get my car working correctly. I did not know if this was some sort of scam I walked into. I looked online and saw that most car repair shops in Boston had about a 50/50 review history. Many people at other shops also had the same bad taste in their mouths once they flunked the car inspection. Luckily Mike had texted me a few pictures of what needed to be repaired before I sulked away. I needed some time to think about what I should do as the quoted price was a shock to my system. I uploaded Mike's photos to ChatGPT and described the problem. Shockingly, ChatGPT reported the exact same thing Mike had told me needed to be fixed. In fact ChatGPT even reported the same parts and costs that needed to be bought to fix the issue. Mike and ChatGPT were in complete agreement! For probably the first time in my life I completely trusted my mechanic (now Mike's Repair) as I understood what was broken because of artificial intelligence. I knew at that moment I was going to have Mike do the repairs. I also have a new found respect for mechanics who must keep coming in contact with customers who are looking for miracles when there are none and many who must struggle trying to understand the car repair estimate. I would suggest to anyone reading this review to get Mike to send them a photo of the repair job then go home and upload to ChatGBT before going forward. I was planning on my repairs costing me around $1,800. Mike's Auto Repairs ended up costing $1,330 and he threw in a lot of free value added repairs in order to make the bill more manageable. I really appreciated that. He did not have to do that. I am partly posting this review to a few sites because I appreciate the good work Mike and his staff did to my car. I think he was expecting me to cry foul when my car flunked the inspection. However, I am mostly posting this review because I think EVERYONE should upload their repair photos to ChatGPT first and get educated about what needs to be fixed. I bet if everyone did that then most of these bad reviews regarding car mechanics in general would not exist on these sites. Finally Mike's charged me two hours of labor for $150 an hour. The going rate in Boston can be as high as $250. I bet Mike even put some extra time in for free in addition to charging me such a low rate. Thanks Mike Auto Repair! A class act! I appreciate it!
I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to for this place. These guys know their stuff—fast, honest, and no unnecessary upsells. They fixed my car the same day I brought it in, and it’s running smoother than ever. The staff is super friendly and actually explains what’s going on without talking over you. Definitely my go-to auto shop from now on. Highly recommend! Also ask for Tommy
Second time going for my state inspection. My sticker was about to expire and I easily slid in on my way home. They saw me immediately and I was done within 20 minutes. They are always fast and easy to talk to. Can't beat them if you need that last minute inspection! Thanks guys!
Excellent service. I came in with a small tire issue. Was told that they were busy, but the manager went out of his way to help me out. 15 minutes later my tire was plugged and I was on my way. I definitely recommend.
