I booked a 90‑minute deep tissue massage today and unfortunately left very disappointed. I usually go to milk + honey or Gift for special occasions, so I came in with high hopes. Before the session began, I specifically asked for focused work on the knots in my left shoulder/shoulder‑scapula area. During the first pass, most of the knots were missed entirely. Before she moved on to my legs, I asked if she could revisit the left shoulder since it was still bothering me. She spent maybe five minutes on it and then moved on, and the leg portion the pressure was extremely light (the pressure got significantly lighter as the session continued). The session didn’t feel tailored to my needs, and the specific issue I came in for was never meaningfully addressed. For a 90‑minute deep tissue massage costing $240, I expected far more targeted work and attention. What surprised me was the comment at the end of the session: I was told they are not allowed to work on upper body for more than 60 minutes and that I shouldn’t book a 90‑minute massage if I want to focus on upper‑body work. If that’s policy, I wish it were clearly stated on the website or communicated upfront. It would have changed my booking. Overall, this experience did not meet the standard I’ve come to expect for the price, and unfortunately I won't be visiting milk+ honey again.
JD at Milk + Honey 2nd street in Austin is AMAZING! Literally the GOAT! Highly recommend him for color correction. He was kind, knowledgeable, professional and skilled. He took time to understand hair goals, what the hair had been through (serious box dye eeeek) and set realistic expectations. He was able to achieve exactly what was asked and made the experience enjoyable too. The entire staff was wonderful and we will def be loyal clients to JD!!!!!
Valeria is simply amazing. I went in for a partial balayage after being previously burned and swearing off hair salons for the last several years. I was traumatized. She was beyond patient with me throughout the consultation and hair dyeing process. She even said a hair protection prayer with me beforehand LOL. She did exactly what I asked for and I left the happiest with my hair that I've ever been--like ever! My hair is extremely long, fine, and curly, and Valeria stayed until 12:30, well past closing, to help untangle my hair make sure it turned out amazing. We were there for 7+ hours. She did not rush the process and put so much care and effort into my hair. I am extremely grateful for her work. She is also soooo sweet! And funny! I just can't say enough about how great Valeria is!
I wanted to reach out regarding my recent hair appointment. I truly tried to be positive about the results, but after giving it time, I realized I should have spoken up sooner. I am extremely sad and disappointed with the results. I scheduled the appointment for full blonde highlights, regarding that I had previously gotten highlights done in march it was time for a touch up. I went in expecting expecting a lighter, brighter result similar to the reference photos I provided. Instead, my hair came out a mix of ginger, copper, orange, gold, and brown tones that appear brassy and do not resemble the look I wanted. I recognize that I may have contributed to the confusion when asked if I preferred a gold or ash tone, as I was unsure of the difference and mentioned “gold.” However, I did show the reference photos of what I wanted again for clarification, and I believed we were on the same page about the desired outcome since she said okay. Once she was done with the service I realized it doesn’t look like how I expected but I was scared to speak up since she was already done. I gave it a day trying to convince myself it’s not what I payed for but it’s okay, but I just couldn’t like it. I contacted the stylist afterward, and she kindly offered to re-tone my hair at no cost at her place. It was not a great experience it was uncomfortable and unprofessional but I had agreed in hopes of bettering my hair. Unfortunately, the toning did not improve the color, and I was told that I would need to schedule another appointment to achieve the look I originally requested. After paying $300 for full blonde highlights, I do not feel it is fair to pay an additional $300 to correct something that I was supposed to get the first time. I have been really sad about my hair and it is not something I can hide. I came very excited for a new look and trusted the stylist because I had seen her beautiful work on others but ended up crying over the results. I know the stylist is talented and has done great work in the past, but this outcome does not match the reference photos and is not what I paid for at all. I have been crying over the results because it just looks so bad. I would greatly appreciate either a refund or a corrective service to fix my hair. I have important events coming up and cannot go out with my hair looking a mess. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope we can find a fair resolution.
I’m a regular here for massages, facials, and dysport services. I love this location and it’s my favorite of all the m + h locations. The whole staff is talented but there are some folks I’d specifically recommend you book! Rees is by far the best masseuse I’ve ever had in my life. No exaggeration. I go to destress and he is an absolute expert at releasing tension. He’s knowledgeable, super professional, and very talented. Zuzia and Erin are my go to for hydra-facials. They’re talented and provided helpful consultation and always tailor to my needs. Lastly Nico at the front desk is always very welcoming and warm. I love when I go and they’re there - super attentive and helpful.
