We eat at Zia’s for dinner quite a bit but seemed like we would always miss out on stopping here because it was later. However, this time we decided to get a late lunch and thought we made it over there in time. We missed them closing by 15-20min but the owner was still behind the counter. She specifically opened the door when she saw our disappointment. It was great getting to talk to her and hearing about her family’s history with the bakery. We picked up an apple strudel which was FANTASTIC. Definitely worth the stop if you are in The Hill area!
Brother made a trip to our favorite bakery today September 14 2025 Placed my order on custard puffs and he will get cheesecake most likely. Always a pleasure to stop at the bakery for fresh baked goods. Custard Puff was spectacular and the custard filled as usual the Puff nice crunchy and a touch of powdered sugar = Perfect Custard Puff! Big Shout Out to Mimi and her staff always warm,welcoming and a delight! Support your locally-owned Women's businesses to keep them in our communities please! If your looking for cakes, cookies, cheesecake, snowballs, Creme puffs, custard puffs, pineapple upside down cake, pies, Danish, muffins, stollens, fresh bread and so much more you need to visit this locally-owned bakery. They do special orders and holiday specials too. This is my favorite bakery on the Hill for sure. Best custard puffs ever filled so full to boot. Everything they make is so delicious 😋
I received recommendations from numerous individuals. It seems I had inadvertently selected the incorrect icing. Despite the time constraints, they were exceptionally accommodating. Their efforts were truly appreciated, the service was outstanding, and I would gladly recommend this establishment. It would be prudent to review the menu prior to ordering, which, admittedly, I did not do.
I spent part of my childhood in St. Louis, and I still remember the delicious German coffee cakes my German grandmother bought for us every time we visited. To my dismay, there didn't seem to be a German bakery anywhere until my aunt told us to come here. She was so right! We left with a pecan coffee cake and a gooey butter cake plus a peanut cake and gooey butter danish to eat right then and there. The young people who served us were so delightful and helpful, and the young man packed our gooey butter cake in plastic and a box so we could keep it chilled until we get home. It is definitely worth going to "The Hill" to visit Missouri Baking Company!
Wow! Look at those gooey butter cakes! I purchased a variety of cookies and everything was so good! Such a treat! It’s a must stop if you are near The Hill in St. Louis.
