I live on the Big Island and have been looking for a good nail salon for so long. While traveling to Oahu I was looking for a nail salon and decided I need to find something! Well, after looking online at every nail salon and their reviews I stumbled across Moana Nails! OMG! I am so freaking happy! Rose (the owner) did my manicure and Ava did my pedicure. I haven’t had this quality of nails done like this is so long that I will need to make sure to find a “me” day every 4 to 6 weeks and fly over and have my nails and toes done. That’s how much I love this place! They both were great and such detailed work. I felt like a VIP! I had a basic/gel pedicure and a gel manicure and added a beautiful flower to my ring finger, turned out amazing! They have only been open for 7 mos, but at the rate they are going they will be open for a very long time. I highly recommend making an appointment but walk-ins are welcomed. They are across the street from the Ala Moana Hotel. Stop looking and head their way. Tell Rose, Bonnie from Kona sent you! Mahalo!
I was in town for a wedding and was able to get a super quick appointment for acrylic nails! The service was exceptional and everything was done within 1 hour. I did not get the name of who did the acrylics but PLEASE let me know if you see this! Ann did the nail color beautifully. The acrylic gel was perfectly thin which I loved, because I’ve gotten thick acrylic nails before elsewhere that I liked a lot less. I saw some regulars returning in that hour so I know they are consistent, and I would highly recommend for all wedding or other pampering needs.
It was my first time getting nail extensions, and my nails were quite sensitive. But Rose was gentle, especially with filing and buffing, and I’m so happy with the results! The salon does have a strong chemical smell tho, but that’s understandable given how busy they are.
After doing some research, I was excited to try Moana Nails— and I’m never going anywhere else! They were so accommodating and welcoming; I came in just to double check if they offered the service I wanted, and to make an appointment for another day, and they worked me in that day! Rose spent extra time making sure I was happy with my color choices (base/a shimmering top layer) for my French dip manicure, and did an absolutely beautiful job on the shape and design. She was also very gentle with my natural nails, which I am so grateful for. Their staff is very friendly, and I enjoyed chatting with them. The new renovations are clean and chic, and I’m looking forward to coming back for a pedicure, too! Overall 5/5 experience, and this new customer is now a loyal customer!
Stumbled upon this place because my long & trusted nail tech of 4 years, Rose, started working at Moana. It has very nice, simple, modern decor and is always very clean. The whole staff is very friendly & each tech takes their time with each client’s service. They do have some services that are priced more than others but if you read the description they offer quite a bit more for the price. Basic services are priced comparably with other nail salons but I would argue that Moana offers a more refined finish & more comfortable environment. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area or anyone visiting the island!
