This place is wonderful. The volunteers are very kind, the literature is super informative, and they have a great impact in the community.
Such a cool place! Lots of great zines
My friend and I were visiting from out of town, and we stumbled upon this little spot complete with a bodega cat. They have a huge collection of zines (all donation based) and some books. I liked the charm of this bookstore - it feels like "old" Austin. I'll definitely be back.
used to do a monthly open mic here pre-pandemic and had a book placed here in 2022. I’m not sure what has happened since then but I went up there twice to try and get my book placed there and was blown off was told to email the place using their website and I emailed multiple times but got no reply. if you’re not interested that’s fine/I am grown and can take rejection. don’t ask me to do something I’ve already done/give me the runaround when you can just be an adult and politely decline. most times when I walk in people are lounging so you have time to send a quick email saying “no thanks” rather than wasting my time. this place is all-volunteer so I try to extend grace but now what once were nice folk treated me as as a local author like I was burdening them👎🏽
Visited with a friend on a whim. Greeted immediately by someone friendly and everyone else was laid back, chatting together, eating etc We took some free informative zines and checked out the book collection. Theyve got cool free stickers and pins too
