I’ve been practicing wing tsun here for about 7 months now. Si Fu is very detail oriented and open minded, there is an interesting balance between being taught and self teaching as well. I’ve been so intrigued, I find myself practicing kung fu at home all the time. The way wing tsun is taught here makes me want to clear my head, regain my balance, be at peace. It’s a highly physical form of meditation. I would recommend joining to anyone who feels lost at what to do with themselve.

In November of 2023, immediately after my wedding, I saw a targeted ad on Instagram that advertised a free week of Wing Chun lessons. I hesitated because I'm in my 40s and overweight, but I figured it would be a good way to be active, and, even if I didn't have fun, at least I would have a story. That was almost a year ago now. I've been to most Tuesday, Thursday, and some Saturday practices since then. Sifu Hedley is friendly, knowledgeable, and a terrific coach. The fellow students, my kung-fu brothers, are extremely welcoming and work together to build a relaxed atmosphere that still always pushes me to strive for better and better technique. I came looking for a workout and I found a community and a way of being. A way to improve and hone a life I already felt was pretty good, but had a piece missing. Now I know I just need to learn to relax and stay on center.

Plus, the mental focus contributes to stress reduction and mental well-being that you take with you everywhere, work, home, etc. Personally, I'm 2 months in at the time of this review and I've also experienced relief in back and tailbone pain from an injury 6 years ago. The precise techniques and emphasis on body alignment have further strengthened my core and alleviated discomfort. I am very appreciative of the Kungfu I've learned to date, and more to come. 🫸🏼🤛🏼
