Very lovely birthday dinner at One Eighty Restaurant. Excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. Momo ( if I didn’t spell wrong) provided outstanding service and kindly saw us off as we were leaving, which made the experience even more memorable. Will definitely return.
There are many Japanese restaurants on the Gold Coast, and this one is highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Japanese flavours and service. This is a yakitori restaurant, not a noisy open-space izakaya. The calm atmosphere, attention to detail, beautifully designed interior, and thoughtful customer service create a space where you can truly relax and escape from everyday life. If you book a table, I personally recommend choosing the Omakase (“Leave it to the chef”) course. The chef prepares everything in advance and cooks each dish as soon as you arrive. This allows you to enjoy food that is made properly and not rushed. Just like in Japan, the yakitori here highlights the meat’s natural juices and umami. When too much salt is added, all you taste is salt—not the quality of the chicken, beef, or pork itself. This restaurant cooks yakitori exactly like an authentic Japanese yakitori-ya. I thoroughly enjoyed the charcoal aroma and the pure flavour of the meat from the first skewer to the last. One standout dish was the Wagyu beef sandwich. they prepare it in the Japanese high-end style—lightly seared on the outside, still pink and tender inside. If you appreciate pure, high-quality raw meat flavour, this will open a whole new world for you. Taste is subjective, of course. Everyone should eat in the way they enjoy most. But sometimes, it’s also worth trying the dish the way the chef intends. Japanese chefs learn from their masters, cook every day, and taste every day—they know how each ingredient shines. The presentation is also very Japanese. Each skewer is served one by one, beautifully arranged with elegant dishes that complement the food. Even the noodles and sandwiches are presented with thoughtful consideration—not only visually but in how they preserve the flavour until the moment you take your first bite. Take a moment to enjoy the balance between the dish and the food—the harmony is part of the experience. I paired the meal with sake, and each selection matched perfectly with the seasonal dishes. The staff explained the reasons behind each pairing, which enhanced the appreciation even more. Customer service is of a very high standard. Staff are attentive and available whenever you need them, yet never hovering or watching you uncomfortably. This restaurant is perfect for people who appreciate fine details and genuine craftsmanship. You will be impressed from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave.
“I felt like I was back in Japan! This is an authentic yakitori restaurant with all staff — including the chefs — from Japan. The atmosphere is warm and genuine, the service is excellent, and the food is absolutely incredible. One of the most authentic Japanese dining experiences on the Gold Coast.”
Amazing food, beautiful restaurant and the best service on the GC. Perfect amount of food and all amazingly prepared. The staff were so lovely and were incredibly attentive. Amazing atmosphere that brought us back to being in Japan. Will be recommending to everyone and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you team!
Did not know of this restaurant but we had a lovely night for my birthday. The complaining reviews on food quantity have not done their homework - this is the style of yakitori omakase (I leave it up to you) so that you are in the hands of the chef. The ambience of the restaurant is so beautiful. The service is exceptional (thank you Momo). The food is amazing. Could not fault. Don’t come here if you like inferior quantity over superior quality but book immediately if you want the best.
