Chef Carlos at Osaka is the kind of hibachi chef that accidentally ruins all future hibachi experiences for you because now your standards are way too high. The guy had perfect timing with everything — jokes, fire, food, more fire — all while cooking like it was nothing. No awkward pauses, no forced “are you ready??” energy, just smooth, confident chaos in the best way. The food was actually insane. Like, not “hibachi good,” but wow I’m still thinking about it later good. Everything was cooked perfectly, seasoned right, and somehow showed up on my plate immediately after being launched across the grill at Mach speed. The shrimp didn’t miss. The rice didn’t miss. Chef Carlos didn’t miss once. What really made it though was that he was genuinely funny without trying too hard. Just quick comments, perfectly timed looks, and subtle jokes that had the whole table laughing without feeling like we were watching a rehearsed script. It felt like hanging out with someone who’s just naturally good at what they do and knows it. Bottom line: if you’re going to Osaka and you don’t ask for Chef Carlos, you’re basically choosing the side quest instead of the main story. 10/10 experience, would absolutely go back, and yes — I’d trust this man with my dinner and my entertainment again.

Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant in my life! 55 degrees in the back corner. $485 meal and all 8 of us froze the entire night. They know they have an issue and have a tiny space heater. Absolute joke of an establishment! Service was a joke as well. Get soup without spoons for 5 minutes, nothing gets cleared off the table. It was so cold the food was cold in seconds! JOKE!

The service and the food was great. We celebrated a birthday sitting at the hibachi area. The chef was entertaining and made sure we were happy with the food. Definitely try the filet mignon and sea bass.

We have been dining at Osaka for over 15 years. We had some issues with our to-go dinner on Saturday night. The manager Jennifer was really great as she listened to our concerns, apologized, extended a gesture to make the situation right and she was genuine. It was really nice to experience a manager that listens to the customer and owns the situation! Great job Jennifer and we will be back for more delicious sushi!

Osaka is a great place for sushi. We like to sit at the bar and talk to the sushi chef while they prepare our dishes. Highlights include the poke, Salmon skin hand roll and the whole aji. When they have it we like to finish our meals with some Santa Barbara uni, which has a taste of the ocean and a little sweetness.
